She didn't know what she expected, not long after they had laid down talking about stars Rick had fallen asleep, she stayed awake and watched the visitor door.
Maybe she was hoping for Elle to come back or perhaps see her mother or any other relative, she waited and tried not to pay attention to any of the others who walked in to visit family. She thought about how crazy today had been, then thought about everything Rick had said who was now dozing peacefully with a few loud snores every thirty seconds.
While watching his features relax, his coffee hair lifted up in the air slightly as he breathed out and it fell back on his eyes when he breathed in.
She noticed an outline of a ring on his finger leaning up a little to get a closer look but stopped when he ruffed and rolled over to his side, she shrugged it off growing bored of sitting and not doing anything.Slowly she started picking out the dead ends in her hair, it was mostly around her rosy pink highlights which were almost impossible to see since blonde strands of hair are practically invisible if not looking carefully. She waited tapping her fingers against her hip until catching a glimpse of her bag in the corner of the concealed space,
She guessed how far away it was and considered reaching out to try and grab it, although the doctors and nurses explained that it probably was best she didn't go on her phone. She leaned over reaching for it despite the sizzling pain she felt from the needle in her arm, groaning a little before hearing a deep British accent.
"At it once again Sera?"
She turned to face the uniformed lady with a chuckle,"W-what? Me? No no nnnnn-yeah I was..."
The nurse grinned and came over checking on her fluids, she had the scent of lavender whenever she was around.
"I see you've made a new friend,"
The nurse pointed towards the snoring Rick."How did you...?"
"Because usually whenever I hear gossip around here it's about how stone-faced you are."Sera stared at her, the only nurse that she actually didn't mind. She was petite with bouncy waves of dark chocolate hair down to her shoulders, and she had what Sera thought were the thinnest lips ever.
It was a lucky thing she wore her name tag to remind Sera what her name was,"So how was the party last weekend? I know you were excited to go to a real party for once."
She put her hands on her hips and swayed them as she said sarcastically,
"Ha ha ha, this wasn't my first party Miss Grumpy, it was okay.""Just okay?"
"Yep."
"What happened?"
"Nothing important."
Sera crossed her arms and furrowed her brows,"Jen. What happened?"
"..."
She sighed before plopping onto Sera's bed twirling her finger in her apron, despite the trouble she could get into she muttered.
