-End of Season 6: 2011-
Spencer firmly kept his arm around Veronica's waist as they exited the haunting building. Veronica's gaze immediately flew up to the bright blue sky as it came in view – a small smile growing from her lips as she rested her head against Spencer's shoulder, serenity overtaking her. Spencer squeezed her waist, landing a kiss to the top of her head as he led her towards the nearest ambulance.
The medics carefully sat her down as they began working on her – checking her entire body for any noticeable cuts or bruises. Spencer stood in front of her, examining along with the medics.
She flinched while feeling the cold touches of latex gloves applying ointments and bandages to her cuts and bruises. She peered downwards, pulling Spencer's cardigan tighter around her shoulders.
Spencer sat directly beside her, his thigh pressing against hers as he took her hand, squeezing it tightly as he solemnly gazed at her. Veronica licked her chapped lips before peering towards Spencer.
"I knew you'd find me," She purred, her eyes twinkling.
Spencer loudly gulped as he grimaced, "I didn't find you soon enough," he muttered, glancing at the ghastly purple mark on her right cheek.
"Hey, look at me," She remorsefully spoke, moving his chin so their eyes gazed into one another's.
"Spence', I'm so lucky," She sincerely smiled.
"What? Veronica – you are battered and bruised, and it sounds like you might need a CAT scan," He exasperatingly spoke, his face full of confusion.
Veronica scoffed, "Do I look like anything from one of your cases? I'm alive and I'm safe. Okay, I've got this ugly thing on my face, but it's not permanent - neither are these scratches, cuts, or bruises; it will all heal. And yes, I'm shaken and I'll probably be overly cautious about some things from now on, but..." She swallowed, giving a hopeful glance before continuing, "I'm here - he's not; I will heal." She set her hand to his cheek to gently caress it, "Neither of us is ignorant about the messed up things that happen in this world - believe me when I say, I'm lucky."
Spencer stared at her, a melancholy look still apparent. "Did he..." He trailed off, unsure if - for the first time in his life - he wanted the answer.
"Did he what?"
"Did he...hurt you in other ways?" Spencer asked in a child-like manner.
Veronica heartbrokenly sighed as she continued to stroke his cheek. "He, um, was overly fond of my neck and shoulders, but his hands didn't go any lower. The dress you found me in – I put that on, he wasn't even looking while I did it. I promise you, he did nothing other than what you see right here. I promise," She leaned forward slightly, touching her nose to his.
Spencer took a deep breath and gave a quick nod. "Okay," He shortly said before wrapping his arms around her, squeezing her torso before diving his head into her mass of curls. Veronica's fingers gripped his shoulders as she lovingly embraced him - a smile smile sprouting from her lips as peace filled her.
Derek and the team stood off in the distance, watching the reunited couple, "I swear that woman is made of magic," He chuckled.
"What makes you say that – because she's been with Reid for three years?" Rossi smirked.
Derek grinned, "Although that is a miracle, I'm referring to the fact that every time I see her she's got a smile on her face - even after going through something crazy like this..." He trailed off as he noticed Reid was trotting towards them while Veronica continued to be treated by medics.
"How's she doing?" Hotch piped up as Reid closed in on the group.
"She says she's lucky," Reid smirked.
"She's not wrong," Hotch nodded before walking over to the local Sheriff.
Derek grinned, squeezing Reid's shoulder, "She's gonna be just fine, lover boy."
Spencer glanced back to Veronica as he noticed the bandaging around her wrists and ankles, as well as a large patch over her right cheek.
"I know" He smirked, his eyes locking with Veronica's as she looked up, a doting grin popping from her lips.
