Waking up for the 6th time that night on a tear stained pillow was already visibly taking a toll on Utibe. She turns to the clock to check the time, 12am.
"How could he?" She said, tears rolling down her eyes.
She squeezed her eyes shut and screamed out.
"It can't be. I must be dreaming. Yes. I'm definitely dreaming." She said, lying down on her bed.
Utibe tried to shut her eyes and fall asleep, hoping that by the time she wakes up all her troubles would have been washed away like a dream. But she couldn't. She couldn't sleep. How could she? When her heart was shattered into so many little pieces.
Utibe tried one more time to fall asleep, but all she could see was him in her dreams. Holding her, and saying it was ok. She could believe him, couldn't she?
He stroked her face before leaning in to kiss her.
She kissed him. Not cause she missed his wet, sloppy kiss but cause she wanted to forget what had happened. She wanted something in her. She wanted him to pound her tears away.
"I miss you" she said.
"But I'm here" he replied.Utibe woke up again, her pillow was wet with tears, infact everywhere was wet. She turned over to check the time, 12:45am.
"Who was he to do that to me?!" She shouted.
She opened her phone to check the message he had sent her."Do you remember the day I said I couldn't come to you place? I went to my ex to get somethings that I left at her place and we hooked up. I'm sorry." Utibe read out.
"After all I've done for him. After all my trust, he was still dumb enough to cheat." She shouted.
Utibe blamed herself at first. She thought she was inadequate, but rereading his message made her realize how infuriated she was at him.
She decided to turn off the airplane mode and reply him. She wanted him to know how she felt about his cheating, two-timing ass.Ping! Ping! Ping!
The sound of all the messages flooding in.
Ping! Ping! Ping!
That generic notification sound.Utibe picked up the phone to see the messages that just popped in.
She had already planned an essay expressing herself and how she felt but she couldn't. She wanted to be hopeful."Maybe he texted, maybe he has apologized, maybe we can make it work" Utibe thought to herself.
She scrolled through her phone; checking to see if he had sent he had texted her. She moved from her SMS to Facebook to Instagram to Snapchat till she ended up in WhatsApp.
She scrolled down till she saw his name. Greg. She clicked on he's profile picture and waited for it to load. Tears rolled down to her cheeks from her eyes. Tears so hot it stung as it escaped her eyes. So hot that she felt it was burning her skin as it came down.
Utibe wiped her eyes and look at her phone. Greg. The boy of her dreams. The one sexiest man alive. The one guy that made head turn, not just once but twice. The one that made her cry."Why did I fall fall hard? Why wasn't I conscious? My friends were right. I shouldn't have gone for him. They told me this was going to happen. Why didn't I listen? Why?!"
Questions upon questions flooded through her mind as she tossed her phone far away from her.Ping!
At the sound of her phone, Utibe turned to the direction of were she had thrown it.
Ping!
She had an urge to get the phone but she didn't want to answer anyone. She really didn't have the strength right now.
Ping!
