Connor sits idly, picking at his teeth, while staring out the window of his mom's matte black minivan.
"Connor, are you sure you want to go to this party? Becky is there," Connor's mom asks worriedly, her brows pinched together in thought.
"Mom, don't worry about it, I probably won't even see her. She'll most likely be with Chad, sucking his face off," he grumbles, placing his head in his palm in frustration.
He watches the houses pass by, paying close attention to the house numbers--despite the nighttime vision--so that he doesn't miss the house. However, he doesn't need to worry about that as his destination is practically beaming with lights, noise, and liquid.
His mom pulls over at the side of the road, parking, unlocking the car, and shoving Connor out the door.
"Well, have fun. I'm gonna go get a manicure, don't die," she waves him off, dismissively. Connor shuts the door, and his mom is gone in a flash.
"Bye?" Connor stares off at the distance, where his mom supposedly disappeared to. Turning away casually, he starts walking to the front door. On his way, he passes multiple groups of students, a few playing beer pong. Couples are lounging around the area, chatting over their own solo cups.
As he enters the house, his ears are nearly blown out from not just the music - but his best friend, Ryan, screaming at the top of his lungs.
"Hey man! I knew you'd make it!!!" He yells, slapping Connor on the back like an awkward bro hug.
"Ow, dude. What was that for?!" Connor yells back, over the blasting music.
"Dude you gotta try the drinks, they added some sorta flavoring to the punch. It's the bomb!!" Ryan tugs his arm, nearly ripping it out of it's socket, dragging Connor across the room to the kitchen. Ryan pulls him over to the counter and scoops up some punch in a cup, to then hand it aggressively to Connor.
This has got to be spiked, no doubt.
Connor timidly grips the drink in his hand, looking into the cup to see if it changed somehow in that short time. He peers across the island to look at Ryan's friends, Sharon and Jacob--they seem to be pretty tipsy, and Ryan goes over to hang with them.
With the moment of distraction from Ryan, Connor pours the punch back into the container, and leaves the kitchen. He walks over to the living room to sit down, shoving coats and random items out of the way. Connor watches the students around him mingle, dancing to the music, and gossiping about the latest. Everyone with a cup of something in his hand. The floor covered in some sort of sticky film.
While zoning out, Connor gets knocked on the back of his head by someone. He turns around to investigate and finds Chad, looking down on him dominantly with a smug smirk. Connor feels a lump in his throat start to form as he holds Chad's gaze.
Connor rips his eyes away from him, to then find Becky clinging to Chad's muscular forearm. He immediately feels a burst of flames ignite in his soul as the memories of his relationship with Becky flash through his mind. Quickly, Connor stands from his place on the sofa and whips around to confront the couple. However, Chad beats him to the punch.
"Hey man, how' you been holding up?" Chad grins as he wraps his arm around Becky's slim waist, giving her a slight squeeze.
"Why are you here!?" With a burst of confidence, Connor bites back, "I told you I never wanted to see you again!"
"It's a small world afterall," Chad sings, "How could I have known you would be here?"
"Hun, settle down. It's just Chad~" Becky hugs into Chad tighter.
"I can't with you two!" Connor storms out of the room, and into the kitchen--where he finds Ryan smooshing faces with some girl--and grabs a cup, to then scoop up some punch and down it in one go.
Ryan peels himself away from the chick, and stares bemusedly at Connor.
"Yo, man, you gotta slow down. Save some for the rest of us," he chuckles, his lips swollen and face reddened.
"Shut up-" Connor spits.
"You gotta loosen up, man. Come upstairs with me and play some games, it'll be fun!" Ryan beckons Connor out of the kitchen, and they make their way up the stairs. That all while Ryan has his chick on his side--only doing good to remind Connor of Becky.
Once upstairs, Ryan pushes open a door to his left, and sits down on an armchair beside a couple other students. In the form of a circle, the students chat about what the rules are to this said "fun" game. Connor sits mindlessly beside a guy, once again staring into his cup, except this time not scrutinizing it for the same reasons.
"So are we gonna play, or what?" A girl chimes in.
"Yeah, but we gotta wait til Shawn comes back with the drinks," a man from across Connor replies.
Captivated by his smooth tone, Connor looks up from his punch, to then make straight eye contact with the silky voiced student. Getting lost in this man's glossy, shimmering eyes, Connor's mouth opens slightly.
Who is he?
