"Eli!" You called quite happily. The male turned around and smiled at the sight of you. "Hello (Y/n)." He knew your greeting out of habit and opened his arms and like a perfect fit you hugged him tightly. You liked Eli, he was so professional and acted very mature. He was a detective after all! It was only natural.

You looked up at him and he returned your gaze. "Are you still on the same case?" He slightly jumped at your words and you gave him a sorrowful look. "No- Eli!" Your grabbed his shoulders harshly. "You have this case for a reason- you're the only one who can solve it! No one else even made the progress you've made yet- that's-! ...gotta count for something, right?"

Eli had been on the same case for five months now, yet the leads always grow cold. He wants justice for the murdered, but has been loosing hope slowly as time drags on. You noticed his dreary behavior and you weren't a fan of it. "Please give yourself more credit, but most importantly please be happy!" You said loudly, taking him from his hopeless state of mind.

He looked at you and smiled as his hand came to your face. "You make me happy when your with me, that's all I need." You leaned into his hand, happy with his words. "You make me happy too Eli." You whispered back and he laughed softly. "Then I promise I'll always be with you." Your stomach fluttered and your cheeks flushed at such a thing, to be with him forever.

"Hey, you two!" You both jumped and spread apart as you looked to the keeper of that voice. "Emily!" You beamed. "Hello dear." She ruffled your hair harshly in a playful way. "And hello Eli, any luck as of late?" She smiled to her friend as you also listened intently.

"Actually there was a murder last night by the same person. It's a few blocks down if you'd like to come with me." He would always like you and Emily to come with him, you two were the only support he had. Everyone else at his office believed he was a failure of a detective for not figuring out who the serial killer was yet, though they never even volunteered to touch the case themselves.

"Of course we'll come Eli." Emily answered for the both of you and he smiled. "Let's go then, and I'll pay for some drinks tonight as a thanks." He began to walk the direction of the crime scene, and you and Emily followed.

"Yeesh." Emily said as her eyes laid upon the victim. There body was contorted in all kinds of ways but what clearly killed them was a gash on the head. "Uhm..." You grabbed Eli's sleeve and he looked down to you. You did not have the strongest stomach, but you wanted to come for Eli.

"(Y/n) are you okay? I'm sorry I shouldn't force you to-!"

You quickly shook your head. "No, I'm okay-! Eli I want to be here to support you!" You gave him a very confient look and he smiled softly. He gave a pat to your head. "You're very sweet (Y/n)." You smiled, in glee of his praise. "Well Eli, if anyone can solve this case it's you! You're the best detective I kn-!"

"Eli Clark." The call of his full name had the three of you whip your head around. His boss appeared and walked up with two people behind him. "Yes sir?" Eli being as respectful as humanly possible said. However his boss never cared for Eli's kind hearted nature, not one bit.

"You've been, working this case quite a while haven't you?" You shook at the mans word, fear of your friend being fired fell heavy on your shoulders. "I'm not.. being let go, am I-?"

"No no no, just uh grabbed some help from the big city over." Your eyes widened and so did Emily's. Eli simply stood their in dismay yet his boss continued. "This," He gestured you all to a male and female. "is Naib and Emma. They were top detectives in their home town." The male, Naib, seemed to not care for the praise, as the girl, Emma, seemed to brighten up to it.
