Elisabeth crouched behind a low wall waiting for the perfect moment to sneak into the factory her friend Thomas waited with her she bit her lip studying the door counting the people that walked out Thomas frowned as he saw two workers loitering by the entrance gate 'what are we gonna do Elisa?' Thomas asked in a hushed tone Elisa stuffed her hands into the pockets of her tattered blazer she pulled out a small rock and kneeled her head poking above the wall she threw the pebble it caught the two workers attention and they left Thomas grinned at Elisa and they dashed into the factory Elisa ran to the storage room where all of the cogs were stored the pair gasped and raced to the boxes grabbing whatever they could stuff their pockets with Thomas grabbed a rather large and shiny cog he grabbed his mask out of his bag and held the cog to it he shook his head and threw it back Elisa looked out of the window and pulled him down the boss walked past whistling a random tune the pair held their breath the boss paused and peered through the window he walked on Elisa sighed and grabbed a hand full of cogs throwing them into the bag 'let's go,' Thomas said sighing he looked over at Elisa he loved her, he loved the way her short black hair framed her face, her seafoam green eyes, her bronze hair clip with a cog glued on it, her tattered clothes, her long fingers, they way her eyes creased when she smiled Thomas loved that fact she refused to wear a dress, Elisa loved him as well his short blonde hair and green eyes, his neat clothes that made him look rich they both loved the fact that they would do everything together they tip toed out of the factory but when they got to the door it was locked

'Bastard,' Elisa said scrunching her face up she dragged one of her hands down her face and looked over at the blond 'any ideas?' She asked Thomas rubbed his chin a light bulb went off in his head he pulled out a rather basic lock picking tool and kneeled in front of the keyhole Elisa paced as her lover worked her head snapped towards him when she heard a click Thomas stood up and opened the door Thomas grabbed her bad hand, the one missing her pinky finger, and lead her out the factory the pair ran towards the low wall and leapt over it Elisa lost her footing and landed in a bush she groaned and felt herself being pulled up she picked up the cogs that had fallen out of her pockets grumbling to herself during the process Thomas helped her Thomas paused hearing footsteps Elisa stopped shoving the cogs into the bag and looked at Thomas the footsteps passed and the pair bolted to the train station Thomas pulled out two train tickets and showed the ticket master Thomas shoved his bag into the overhead compartment and sat down across from Elisa who was looking at the tickets

'How did you get these?' Elisa asked she held the tickets out Thomas took them and shoved them into the trouser pocket

'I did a bit of trading last night,' he replied with a wink Elisa shook her head and gave a half-smile Thomas blushed lightly as he watched Elisa laid down on the seats sitting with her back to the wall where the window was her feet dangled off the edge hours past Elisa had fallen asleep Thomas was watching her the train chugged on it came to a sudden halt causing Thomas to lurch forward and Elisa to wake up Thomas sprung out of his seat and grabbed the bag shoving it under one of the seats Elisa sat upright and looked at Thomas a short man walked up and down the corridor holding a pistol in his hand Elisa and Thomas dropped down onto their knees and hid under the table the man holding the pistol slid the door open ever so slightly he looked inside that compartment then slammed the door shut and left the pair crawled out from under the table and sat back on the seats the train slowly started to move Thomas reached under the seat and pulled the bag to his chest with the train back on course the pair hoped they would get home on time for the masquerade which is why they stole the cogs in the first place
