They both stared at him with wide eyes, Sera covered her mouth thinking she had gasped since the news hit her.
He tilted his head at their reactions while his eyes grew and filled with tears,

"W-what is Cancer? When will my mommy wake up?"

They both stayed silent, unsure of how to explain and not wanting the boy to feel so scared. She patted her bed and after a few minutes of hesitation he jumped down from his and up onto hers, she asked a few questions.

"Could you tell us what happened? When you found your mommy...?"

She noticed him staring at her hair and leaned forward holding out a small bunch, he gently placed his hands in her hair and started softly playing with it.

"Mommy got home from w-work and said she was sleepy s-so I went to my room and waited for dinner, after a w-while, I got really hungry and went to ask m-mommy to feed me but the room was smelly a-and she wouldn't listen to me when I t-tried to wake her up."

He had a small stutter every now and again but she understood and nodded along as he spoke,

"How did you learn to speak so well?"
"M-mommy used to read me a book at night."
"What was your mommy's name?"

He shrugged before playing with her pink highlights and chuckling.

"Do you know what your mom worked as? Was it close to here?"
"I-I don't know..."

Rick whispered to her why was this so important but she stated that it would help her understand more,
"What was she wearing?"
"Tiny tops and usually a skirt or r-ripped pants..."
She hoped it wasn't what she thought it was, she gave him a small smile and ruffled his hair.

"Well, now you're here and you might be staying here for some time..."
"W-what is c-cancer?"

She glanced over at Rick who was watching Pip playing with her hair, he started rubbing his fingers over his knuckles.
"Well you see...cancer is a sickness and it's sorta like the flu except it doesn't go away on its own, the person who has cancer can get better! Did...did you hear what stage you were at?"

"E-early stage 2? I-I think that's what I heard...will I really b-be okay?"

Sera nodded and started to show him how to plait her hair,
"You're at an early stage, you should be fine and just like the flu it should go away...maybe you should get some sleep."
"No!"

He raised his voice for the first time and backed away from her hugging his knees.
"Hey hey it's okay, you don't have to be-"
"I-if I go to sleep I-I won't wake up! Like mommy..."

She shook her head pulling him closer to her, she ran her hand through his messy hair slowly making him melt in her hands.
