I had never been that worried in my life. I knew that it was nothing serious, that she passed out because of the pain but that still didn't stop me from thinking of the worst. I paced up and down the hospital waiting room, unable to stay still. Rebecca was starting to get on my nerves. She kept on doing impressions of Lauren falling down the stairs. She seemed to have thought the whole experience was funny, eventually I snapped.
"WILL YOU STOP IT!" I yelled at her. "THE PERSON WHO I CARE ABOUT MOST IS IN F#CKING HOSPITAL, IN A F#CKING COMA!"
"THE PERSON YOU CARE ABOUT MOST?" She screamed back, attracting even more attention. "WHAT ABOUT ME JOE! WHAT ABOUT US!"
"THERE WILL BE NO MORE 'US' UNTIL YOU GROW UP! NOW LEAVE!"
"Fine!" She snarled and walked out. I collapsed onto a near by chair, head in hands. I wanted to cry but I knew I couldn't because once I start I knew I wouldn't be able to stop. I wasn't upset about breaking up with Rebecca, I was more upset about Lauren.
Joey came over to me and let out a low whistle. "That was rough man." He said.
""You think!" I spat. Then I realised that he was trying to comfort me. "Sorry..."
"S'okay."
"How much longer do you reckon they'll be?"
"I asked the doctor at reception. She said any minute now."
I let out a puff of air, so released she was going to be alright. I then looked up at Joey, one of my best friends. I had to tell him how I felt about Lauren. I couldn't keep my secret any longer."
"I'm just so worried about her."
"I know, me too-,"
"But there's something more than that..." I sighed. "Joey, I think I'm- I think I'm falling in love with Lauren Lopez."
Then, something strange happened. Joey started to laugh, not a cruel laugh, more like a laugh of relief.
"What?"I asked him.
"I need to tell you something," he beckoned me closer. "She feels the same way about you."
"What!? Are you-!"
But at that moment one of the nurses came into the waiting room. We all stood up, waiting for what she'll say.
"You can go and see her now." She said.
I marched strait past her, not looking back at the others. I carried on until I got to Lauren's bed where she was sat up and alert. The second she saw me a huge smile spread across her face, I guess that's a good sign.
"Joe! I-!" But that was all she managed to get out before I did something which seemed stupid and right at the same time.
I kissed her.
