(emerald and mercury had been officially together for 3 years now)
Mercury paced around the room, stressed.
"This isn't what was supposed to happen! We can't just leave! Not now, not like this." Mercury said defeatedly. Emerald sat there, not knowing what to say to her boyfriend, who she had just broke the news to- he was going to be a father.
"are you just gonna sit there silently!?" Mercury barked at Emerald, he took a deep breath, attempting to calm himself down.
"Merc I.. I don't want to- we CANT raise this child here. If we tell Salem who knows what will happen" Emerald said quietly, so quiet you wouldn't even hear unless you where listening.
"You know what happend last time we tried to leave Emerald! We were beaten, tortured for days!"
Emerald shook at the thought of what happend that day.
Emerald and Mercury had tried leaving a year ago, they where tired of it all and wanted to leave, but she caught them, Salem ordered for them to be belittled, abused, tortured for as long as they could handle before death. Mercury had fallen back into putting up with his duties.
"maybe we should give it up, for the sake of my work."
"Mercury is your unborn child or your work more important?! I was abandoned as a child why the fuck would I do that to ours? This child is more important then this stupid FUCKING place and YOUR work!"
She snapped back, not understanding how Mercury could be so heartless. she went to look up at Mercury and realised he was now in the corner, seemingly scared and shocked of something that wasn't there. Atleast not anymore.
"you.." Mercury said shocked before Emerald had realised what she had done, she had created an illusion of Mercury's father out of frustration, which was one of the drawbacks of her semblance, creating illusions unwillingly. Mercury's father was also one of the only things that truley scared him.
"Merc I'm so sorry I didnt-" She was cut off by a warm embrace, it was Mercury.
"Im sorry Em I swear i didn't mean what I said, it's just.." he sighed, "Stressful knowing what happend last time we left." he pulled out of the hug and softly caressed Emeralds face, looking her in the eyes while holding back tears "I wouldn't want anything happening to you or.." he paused, "our child."
"I promise we'll make it out of here.. Together, alive, all.. 3 of us."
-flash forward a year-
Emerald, Mercury and Amethyst(3mo) now reside in a small house In the center of Argus.
-time: 2:35 am-
Everyone was peacefully sleeping, until Emerald was awoken by the sounds of her daughters cries, but these werent ordinary cries, and she knew it.
Panicked, Emerald quickly shot up out of bed and ran to her daughter's bedroom to see what was going on , but she was too late. The room was dark.. It felt cold. It felt lifeless. Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her foot before looking down and seeing clear shards scattered on the floor.
Broken glass..
"MERCURY!!!!"
Mercury was quickly awoken and alarmed by the sound of his name being screamed by his fiance. He ran to his daughters room to see what had happened only to find Emerald staring at something in her hand. He quickly noticed Amethyst was gone and the window was open, he rushed to Emerald.
"Em where-" he cut himself off by seeing what Emerald had in her hand.
It was a Black queens chess piece. That's it, just a black queens chess piece. And they knew exactly who had done this. Cinder Fall.
"how could I let this happen... How did she even.." Emerald said between sobs, before her knees gave out and she fell, dropping and shattering the chess piece. "Ive failed.. I should've kept her safe and I couldn't even do that!"
Mercury got down to the floor to comfort Emerald who was , although he was horrified, he had to keep it together for her. He quickly hugged her and assured her it would be okay, and that they would find her and bring her home.. No matter how long it took.
