Definition of a few Chinese genres -
Xianxia : Fictional stories featuring magic, demons, ghosts, immortals, and a great deal of Chinese folklore/mythology. Protagonists (usually) attempt to cultivate to Immortality, seeking eternal life and the pinnacle of strength.
Wuxia : a genre of Chinese fiction or cinema featuring itinerant warriors of ancient China, often depicted as capable of superhuman feats of martial arts
danmei : "Danmei" is a Chinese word, used to describe a type (more like a genre) of fictional novel. Usually, the contents of danmei novels are high-rated and concentrated on describing the between two males (the similar meaning could be found in Japanese word "Yaoi").
Xuanhuan : A broad genre of fictional stories which remixes Chinese folklore/mythology with foreign elements & settings.
