[Zootopia Transfic] Oneshots [Nick x Judy]

#1 The vacation

Working at the ZPD was never too hard for Judy.

While people were thinking a police officer had to work 24/24 hours, this wasn't right for those who worked at the ZPD. Why? Well, because there was a vacation that everyone was looking forward to.

It's an occasion when some officers could take a chance to go back to their hometown if they wanted, while others still keep working at the ZPD to serve and protect Zootopia.

"The vacation is gonna start tomorrow, are you planning to go back home?"

Judy turned to the one who still continued driving the car, asking while she was writing an email for her parents. Nick put out his shades, asking back mechanically:

"Back... what?"

"Back home, of course! Are you kidding me?" Judy hit his shoulder, frowning "You're one of those who have the permission to take some days off this time, right?"

Nick shrugged:

"Nah, you just go if you want, I'll stay here. I haven't go back home for a long time so just feel used to it anyway." He put on his shades back, chuckling "By the way, the less you take days off, the more money you'll earn."

Judy looked at him in boredom, then looking back to her email for her parents. She bet that they really hoped to see their daughter back home. Well, maybe she should take a chance to be off as many days as possible. She didn't mind about earning much money (like Nick :>) because mom and dad always gave her enough food to ear for a very long time. So she could rest as leisurely as she want.

Judy crossed her legs and continued typing the email, saying in inadvertence:

"Hah, I might be off for a quite long time, maybe two weeks or..."

SCREEEEECH!!

"Oh my gosh!!"

The car suddenly braked just like hitting something hard on the road made Judy's head almost banged on the windshield. She turned to the bad driver sitting next to her immediately, knitting her brows:

"What's up?!"

She also felt more hard to understand when Nick were staring at 'something' forward. Finally, he answered in a very short way:

"Nothing."

Then, he continued driving the car unstressed-ly like nothing had happened.

Judy could not understand. The thing is she pretty sure that Nick hadn't stared at anything: he was startled. She turned off her phone and so, all the way she looked hardly at every single expressions and gestures of him, but he just looked through of her. Judy guessed that it was because of what she had said before.

Or to be honest, he was confused.

Next morning, Judy got up early and dressed up in hurry. She checked her suitcase one last time to be sure that her stuffs were all there. Because of the long vacation, she brought a lot of things, including some gifts for her family.

"Clothes, done! Gifts, done! Money, done! Everything, done!" Judy closed her suitcase and look again at the clock. She had to be sure that she wouldn't be late for the train.

Open the door in such excitement, go downstairs and just like that, she got in the train and ready to go back her hometown Bunnyburrow with a very good mood.

It was six a.m when she got in the train. So that was to late for "someone" to visit at seven.

The sound of the knocked door just echoed with no replies back. Nick started to feel helpless. Expiring, he kicked the old door of the motel room, then go to the ZPD with the slumped shoulders.

"In time like a bunny, cheh!"

-Three weeks later-

Judy was on the way to the ZPD to start a new workday. Well, she was a little late because of some baskets of carrots and blueberries that her parents had given her with a sobbing voice. Right the moment she walked in the ZPD, Clawhauser reminded her about her too long vacation.

Judy nodded and answer in confusion, then dashed around to find Nick. She planned to give him some of the gifts that her family had given her.

"Where is he now?"

Suddenly, a familiar tail peeked out. Judy cheerfully run to him and pat Nick on his arm, saying in excitement:

-Hey! I'm back, a little later than I thought though.

Nick replied her pat and hello by turning to her and answering indifferently:

"Oh, the truth, hah?"

The way he had answered made Judy feel hard to understand (again :D). She stared at him for a while, a sudden thought popped in her mind. And that thought made her a big smile on her face. Judy got near to him, pursing her lips and asking:

"Nick, are you jealous?"

"Whatta---"

He turned to the bunny promptly and stared at her with the wide eyes. Then, he took a deep breath and back to his ordinary (cool) mood, knitting his eyebrows:

"Oh, so you think I'm jealous because of what?"

Judy giggled:

"Because you didn't go back to your beloved hometown like I did?"

...

No, wrong.

But to say the right one was so hard, and telling the truth wasn't his type. Nick took a deep breath:

"Nope. I am completely normal." He raised his eyebrows, snickering "I think your judgement was wrong, Carrots."

Judy hit her forehead disappointedly. She expired:

"So why were you mad at me?"

Nick poked his hand into pocket and put out a small thing wrapped in a handkerchief, throwing it to Judy. She cautiously opened the handkerchief, still not understanding how could this be the answer for her question. Inside was a small police notebook decorated with some carrots images.

"I've tried to give it to you before you left but couldn't" he said, scratching his ears "Eh, it is late but still OK anyway. And, it gets a little old because of you going back late, hah...?"

"Aww, is this a gift?" smiled Judy.

Nick shrugged instead of nodding. Well, Judy still didn't understand if this was the answer for her question before, but at least it really made her feel happy.

Nick shrugged again and ended the chat with a short saying a little like blaming:

"Just don't leave for too long like that again!"

Judy giggled. Okay okay, this wouldn't happen again, she promised.

Even if working at the ZPD means punishing bad guys and publishing the truth, but sometimes there can be some of them that could let anyone know. And sometimes, the truth is just told by a shrugging with no more emotions, can't know if 'someone' understands it or not.

But to be honest, this won't happen again, for sure.
