Prologue
Dim light flickered in the moist cave making the walls sparkle as if they were made from gems. The ground was covered in faded foot prints showing that many people had once been inside the small and cold space. Half of it was blocked off with stakes sticking from the ground and ceiling to create a wall. Designs of an old and dead language were carved into them all. On the side that was blocked off sat what anyone would have guessed to be a man but had become something much worse long ago.
The being lifted his head as the door to his confinement opened for four hooded figures to walk in. The soft clink of chain mail filled the small area as they made their way over with one hand holding a torch and their others near their swords. The one in the middle stepped up to the stakes and removed his hood slowly. Cold brown eyes looked upon the being with disgust and a little bit of fear.
“I have come to ask a favor.” He kept his voice low seeming to fear that someone outside of the space might possibly hear.
The being slowly stood from where he sat and walked over to the man, “I don’t know if you have heard, but I have stopped doing favors.” Stepping into the light, he looked at the man with golden eyes.
Angered by this answer the man grabbed the stakes with his hands and glared down the being, “I am your King and you will grant me what I want!”
Shaking his head the being tsk’d and wiggled a finger at him, “Now now, you might be King but you are not my King for I did not vote for you.” Ever so slight he tilted his head to the side, “And what you want will destroy you.”
“You lie with your serpents tongue.” The King growled, “It will make me stronger. It will make this kingdom mine forever.”
“True.” The being slowly started to pace the front of his ‘prison’, “But it will also kill you, for you see, what you ask for is a curse.” He stopped and looked upon the King, “And all curses end badly for the one that wanted it.”
The King’s hands tightened around the stakes he held onto, “A curse can’t be broken if the way to brake it is destroyed.”
The being seemed to ponder this before nodding, “That is true.” Stepping up to the King, he reached his hand out and with a flick of his wrist had a document and pen appear, “You know what to do if this is what you truly want.”
“It is.” The King reached for the pen but stopped just before he touched it, “Wait… I know your game. Magic always comes with a price for you, so what do you want in return… And tell me what it is that can break this.”
“It’s simple really.” The beings mouth stretched into a grin, “I want my freedom, you see there is someone out there who is going to need my help in their future and I would very much like to help them. As for the curse, one that can see the truth behind lies, that is of their eighteenth year, and is of royal blood. That is who can break your curse; now, do we have a deal?”
“Of course.” Taking the pen, the King wrote his name on the document then watched as both items disappeared.
“Perfect.” The man purred as a black smoke slowly appeared from under his feet and made its way up his body. Once it was completely covering him it shot out and to the King, doing the same. His men went for their knives but stopped after grabbing the hilts and watched as the smoke vanished. The being was gone and their King was still standing before them.
A smirk played on the King’s lips as he turned to his men with his eyes closed, “That was all I needed, now we have to find the hero that can break this.” He opened his eyes to look at his mean and fear washed over them when they saw that his eyes had turned black and all signs of the King they had known were gone.

Authors Note,
I'm sorry for this being short, but I wanted it to be. I'm sorry if everything is confusing and unclear and is worded weird, I did that all on purpose. If you do have questions then ask :) Dedication is for guessing who the man in the cave is and getting it right :3
