Trigger warnings
Panic, mentions of throwing up and bruises, let me know if I missed anything.

I was sitting in my brothers room and mine, pondering whether I would ever find my real parents, or at least what happened to them. They could've abandoned me, or they could be dead for all that I know.

For some reason, the people who take care of me at this orphanage won't tell me what happened to my parents. They say that they don't know what happened to my parents and that they found me and my twin brother, both babies about two months old, crying on the orphanage doorstep in a box. But for some reason, I can't help but not believe them.

"Aaron, come into the lobby, there's people looking to adopt!" I heard a woman call out to me, shaking me from my thoughts.

I sighed and stood up, and slowly walked out of our room, down the stairs, and to the lobby.

Not really wanting to be social right now, I go stand in a corner in the back of the room, away from everybody. I sigh and lean against the dark grey wall.

I then jump as I all of a sudden feel two arms wrapping around me.

"Morning, sister! I'm so ready to get out of this orphanage." I relax as I hear my brother Chris' voice, and not just some random persons voice.

I give him a small smile and a nod in response since I'm mute. I really do want to get out of this place, but at the same time, I don't know if I want to trust anyone with my brother and my life in their hands.

About four more people walk in, but the person who stands out to me the most is one of the men. It looked like he had a hunchback, his hair was very messy and was brown, his eyes were dark, a dark brown color, and the shape of them looked quite peculiar. He had a tan skin tone, and he wore a brown leather jacket (the kind that older men wear), some baggy jeans that looked a bit too big on him, and some glossy black shoes. It was an odd outfit, and something about him just... didn't feel right, and I didn't like it.

I saw the man make eye contact with me, so on instinct, I quickly look away in a small panic. He then keeps looking at me, and I give my brother a little gesture, which he doesn't seem to catch onto.

The man then starts walking towards us. My eyes widen in surprise and panic as I hug my brother closer. I really don't want to talk to this man.. like I said before, something just.. doesn't feel right.

Then, the unexpected happens. He points a finger at my brother and I and says "I want them." As the lady at the counter motions for us to come over so he can fill out the adoption papers.

I think this is very odd because who in the right mind would just adopt two random kids without talking to them first? I know I wouldn't.

I pull away from Chris and grab his hand, then squeeze it tightly, him knowing that this means I'm scared, or somewhat anxious.

"It'll be okay, I promise." He says to me, along with a pat on the back, I nod in response.

That's when I notice a little girl come out from behind him that looks to be about seven or eight years old. She had a bruise that was purple around one of her eyes, however both of her eyes looked red and glossy, and kind of puffy as if she had just gotten done crying. She had on a pink t-shirt with a blue butterfly on it, dark blue jeans, and some light blue flip flops. Her hair was a brown color, it was straight and looked very stiff and greasy, like it hadn't been washed for days.

This only made me more uneasy, my heart beat starting to speed up as I tried to steady my breath, which wasn't really working out. My brother, now noticing this, stroked my hair and rubbed my back in attempt to try to calm me down, which helped a little.

After the man who's adopting us got all of the papers signed, we all walked out of the orphanage together and to his car. His car was black, and looked kind of beat up. Everything with him looked somewhat beat up.

The little girl, which I assumed is his daughter, then looked at both me and my brother with a serious face, which I responded with a weird, awkward smile. Then, she said something that frightened me so much, I almost threw up.

"Take your brother and run."
