The sun was shining brightly. There were just a couple of small clouds in the blue sky. It seemed like a perfectly normal day in Perfection, Nevada. Emma and Kate were walking to school together. Emma has brown wavy hair, she's wearing her black leather jacket with a yellow shirt underneath, with blue jeans and leather combat boots. Kate has straight blonde hair, has a pink jacket with a white shirt underneath, light blue jeans, and pink checkered Vans. Emma and Kate have been best friends since they met in first-grade at Perfection Elementary. They both stuck together and now attend Perfection High.
When the girls arrived at school, missing person fliers were hanging everywhere picturing a redheaded girl with blue eyes.
"Hey, Jack," Emma said to her friend. "What happened?" she asked, as Jack approached in his usual sporty attire, basketball shorts, and a t-shirt. Jack is an old friend of Kate and Emma’s. He is sporty, but also kind of a nerd.
"Bella disappeared last night. She didn’t show up at her end-of-year party. Eve called her to see where she was but she didn’t pick up and then people started to freak out."
"Are we sure she's not at a random guy’s house?" added Kate.
"She would have told Eve at least," replied Jack.
"Ya, I guess… " Emma hit Kate in the arm, as a warning for her to shut up before she beat her butt. Tony walked up and Emma stopped and smiled at him. Tony is a new kid from the west.
Tony asked, "Hey, I was wondering if you guys would like to meet up with some of our classmates to help look for Bella today after school?"
Emma replied, "Ya, sure we would love to help, right Kate?" as Kate gave Emma the death stare.
"Hey look at the time we need to get to class," Kate said as she and Emma walked away from the boys. Jack yells at them that class doesn't start for another 10 minutes, but the girls kept on walking.
"Why did you volunteer us to go with them? You do know that if my parents find out I'm friends with her they will kill me!" Emma shrieked.
"We can just say that you were just trying to help,” expressed Kate.
"Ok, but if we get caught, I blame you." The bell rings. The girls start to run to their first-hour math class with Ms. ______ _. When they get there, the class has already started. They both looked at each other, Emma slowly opened the door hoping the teacher wouldn't notice.
"Girls come on in," announced Ms._____. As they walked in she asked, "Why are you late, girls?"
"They were with us," a voice from behind them said. The girls both looked behind them, it was Jack and Tony.
"We were planning on a place to meet up for the students that are going to help look for Bella," explained Tony.
"Ok, I'll give you guys a pass this time, just don't let it happen again," warned Ms.____.
"Yes ma’am," they all said in unison as they sat at their pod of desks.
"Thanks, you just saved our butts," whispered Kate.
"Any time," answered Jack.
"Ok class, let's start," proclaimed Ms. _______.
That afternoon after school they all met up at Renny's. Renny’s is the place where teens hang out, it has everything you could imagine. There were already other people there waiting for them.
One of them asked, “So how are us kids going to find Bella anyways?”
“Well we will split up into groups, and then we can look at any place we think she could have gone or anywhere she might be,’’ Tony started.
“Who put you in charge?” interrupted someone firmly.
“It seems I'm the only one who will take charge.’’
“Fine,’’ said Aurora. People started to separate into groups. There were only five groups altogether. Emma, Kate, Jake, and Tony were all in the same group.
“We’ll meet back here at eight.’’
“Should we go to her house to look for clues?’’ Emma asked.
“Great idea,” said Tony. When they arrived at Bella’s house, which looks like a medieval castle.
“Who’s going to knock?’’ asked Jack.
Kate lifted the engraved door knocker and then hit it on the door a couple of times. They could hear footsteps coming from inside the house. The door opened with a creak. A middle-aged woman was standing behind the door.
“Hello, madam, are you Miss ________?” asked Tony.
“Yes, who may you be?’’ asked Miss ________.
“ We’re friends of your daughter,’’ Tony replied.
“Oh, will you please come in?’’ she said as she gestured for them to enter.
“ Thank you,” answered Emma. They walked inside and followed
Mrs. ______ to the living room were Mr.______ was sitting on the couch.
“What brings you all here on this fine day? ’’ asked Mrs. ______, as the kids all sat on the couch on the other side of wear Mr.______ was sitting.
“We were wondering if we could ask you some questions about your daughter disappearing?’’ asked Emma. Mr. and Mrs. ______ looked at each other and then looked back at the kids.
“We would love to help,’’ said Mrs. ________.
“When was the last time you saw your daughter?’’ Tony asked.
“Yesterday, before she went to school,’’ Mrs. _______ said.
“Do you know anyone that might want to hurt her?’’ Emma asked reluctantly.
“ No, everyone loved her,’’ Mr. ______ chimed in. They all nodded in agreement.
“Did you know that Bella was having a party?’’ Tony continued.
“Well, yes we always help plan them,” Mrs. ____ said.
“Really!’’ Tony said surprised.
“You can only be a kid for a short period in your life, and she's going to have a party anyway so we just as well help, so its save,” Bella’s dad replied.
“One last question, where were you last night?’’ asked Emma suspiciously.
“We were at our shop,’’ Bella’s mom said surprised by the question.
“So you were together?’’ Emma questioned.
“Yes, of course,’’ Mrs. _____ replied.
“Well we’ll be leaving now,” Tony said as he turned towards the door.
“I’ll walk you out,’’ offered Mrs. _______.
They got back to Renny's, and all the others were there.
“Did you guys find anything?’’ Jack asked.
“No,’’ most of them said while the rest said nothing.
“DID YOU GUYS EVEN DO ANYTHING!!!!!!’’ yelled Emma and Kate. They all looked at each other with scared and guilty faces.
The next day Emma, Kate, Jack, and Tony all met up at Renny's to talk about what the next step will be to find Bella.
“I think that we should check out Mrs. and Mr. ‘s shop,’’ started Emma.
“Why, you don’t think they had something to do with her disappearing do you?’’ Jack asked.
“Emma’s right, they were way too calm about it,” stated Tony. They all nodded in agreement. When they got to the shop they peered through the window to see if anyone was inside.
“I don't see anyone,’’ Kate said as she looked around.
“There’s a door around back that he keeps unlocked,’’ explained Emma. They all gave her a confused face.
‘’What?’’ she said as she shrugged. “I listen to people when they talk really loud.’’ They made their way across to the back door. To their surprise, there was blood on it. They looked at each other with scared facial expressions. Emma opened the door very slowly so it wouldn’t make a sound. When they got inside they looked around to see if there was any other blood.
“There's some more over here,’’ Jack said. They all walked over to a set of stairs.
“It looks like it goes upstairs,’’ said Kate.
“Ya, and it looks like something was….’’ Emma started.
“... dragged up the stairs.’’ finished Tony.
Both Kate and Jake looked at each other.
“What is up with those two,’’ whispered Jake to Kate.
“I have no clue, but they’re having way too much fun with this,’’ Kate replied.
Tony and Emma were already upstairs, Jack and Kate followed. They split up to search both rooms.
“AHHHHHHHHHHH”
Everyone ran toward the scream. As they approached, Kate was standing over what appeared to be a body. They grew closer and realized it was Bella’s body, covered in blood and deep wounds.
