"Komugi, are you there?" He asked as he helplessly laying in her lap.
"Yes, yes what is it?" She said.
He breathed.
"Thank you" He answered gently as darkness completely concealed his own sights.
He thanked her for everything. Thanking her for meeting him. Thanking her for changing him and the aspects about the importance of life in this world.
And....
He felt happy with that despite he couldn't see anymore.
He felt happy that he could finally die in peace with her. To be with her even in death could set them apart. And to be lying and sleeping on her soft lap as pain and numbness took over of his cold body.
He was satisfied enough to this. Satisfied that she didn't leave him instead of she should for her sake. Satisfied that despite of every brutal and disastrous occurrences that happen to them, she stays with him. Chose to die with him in his death bed.
He didn't know why she did it. But maybe the answer is.....
"You're welcome" she replied softly as her hand touches on his face.
Her passion just to be with him.
Her innocence in nature .
Her kindness to him.
Her devotion of playing gungi with him.
and Her undeclared yet distinct love for him.
Everything of her is purely white and warm. So different to him. Even in death.
But somehow, he felt guilty and regretted everything. He should have protected her, not letting to stay with him. He should have told her to live in a human society. To stay with them and be happy in the end.
But it's too late...
There's nothing he could do just to change the past. And he will forever carry that regret in the end. However, that's not the important right now because what truly important was she's here. Nothing else. And He felt pleased to know that.
Somehow.....
Somehow he thinks that what if they were still alive and not being drowned in pain and cold death. Maybe they could still have a chance to get to know better each other. Maybe he could learn something more from her. Learning more about the way of human lives do. Maybe they could be a more than neutral relationship.
If they were still alive right now.. Not succumbing to death.
Maybe...maybe..
" will you "
Just maybe...
"call my name"
They could be lovers one day.
"One last time..."
"I love you" he silently said to her in his mind. He didn't understand the word but it feels right to say it.
As the warm hand left on his face instead she holds his hand.
" I love you..." He repeated again in his slowly hazy mind.
"Goodnight Meruem" she did it with a smile on her face looking sadly to his sleeping form.
" I'll be joining you.. " she whispered to his slumbering cold body.
" I love you...Komugi" He reiterated like a prayer or mantra to her.
"..soon" She muttered lastly until..
" ..I..love.."
Silence is finally came.
