In the summer of 2012, Lou started her first year at La Beau Magic School in France. She didn't know she had powers until she set her parent's living room on fire the previous year. Lou always dreamed of being a witch, but only thought it was a make believe story. Her mother and father were both muggles. Muggles was a term she never heard before until her very first day, apparently they are people who don't possess magical powers. Her parents sent her away to live with people "like herself," convinced it was an evil sorcery that needed to be controlled.
To their knowledge they seemed like kind folk. When Lou found out they were the complete opposite and rather abusive, she begged her parents to go back home. She sent a letter every day of her misfortunes, only to get no responses. Lou stopped trying, only to return for the holidays.
