947 B.C. – In the land of Hellas, in a small rural village on the peninsula near Delphi, I was living quite a fruitful life with my family of 4 brothers and sisters, mother, and father. However, my eldest brother, Aäron, had left our village many years back to fulfill his destiny, given to him by the Gods. He had to journey across Hellas to the grand state of Athens to train under the Gods. Being his seven year-old younger brother at the time, I was unable to fully understand my brother's fate.
Yet, life continued normally back at our village for the last 4 years after his departure. Until, on the last day of Boedromion, the wrath of the Hades wreaked havoc upon our peaceful and fertile land in the dark of night, unleashing horrific spectral entities, demonic creatures, and malicious beasts, slaying anyone and anything they came across. Some breathed fire, some used malevolent magic, all destructive. Our delicate homes, precious harvests, and priceless possessions all consumed by the flames of despair and torment.
I was away from home, playing in the near hills and mountains when it all began. As soon as I saw the smoke, I immediately went back home with such haste that my feet began to bleed from the harsh terrain. As soon as I got closer to home, the smell of ash and burning flesh was so horrendous that I wanted to turn back, but I persevered through it to find my family and get them to safety as best I could. The screams and shrieks of my friends and those I knew, being dismembered, eaten, shot, and stabbed –– things a child like me shouldn't see at this point in their life.
After I ran past the chaos of burning homes and bloody bodies, I finally made it to the front of my doorstep. As I opened the blood-stained, wooden door, what I saw was instantly traumatizing. I saw my lifeless siblings and parents, lying in a massive pool of their blood, stabbed and dismembered. I couldn't move. I couldn't stop staring at them. My heart and mind raced so fast that I could feel my pulse coursing through my veins. I looked around the room, seeing the blood-stained and cracked walls, claw marks on the floor, wall, and ceiling, with our belongings, damaged and scattered all over the room. I took a step back––
"Erastus..." a voice uttered. Frightened, I realized that the voice was my father's. I looked down, into his dying eyes –– "F-Father?" –– and took another step back in fear.
"Run..." he said with a rasp. His eyes rolled back into his head and the last dwelling fragments of his fading soul were extinguished. With the tears of sadness and fear that flowed down my cheeks, I heeded my father's dying words and ran out of the village as fast as I could. As I opened the door, the unholy heat from the perilous flames began to lightly blister the surface of my skin as I quickly made a break for it to escape the village, swiftly evading the hellish creatures of Hades.
"Now!" I heard a voice yell out. "Slay them all!" I looked up toward the smoke-filled night sky and saw 3 beings with radiant golden wings, flying down toward the fiery village and eradicating the devilish creatures, one-by-one. I sneaked my way toward them, hoping to be rescued by them and what I shocked me was that one of these powerful beings was my brother slaying the beasts with his divine gilded sword, with an enigmatic man wielding an obsidian-colored scythe and a lovely-looking woman wielding a deep ruby-colored lance, both in gleaming gilded armor, fighting alongside Aäron. I went out into the opening to get my brother's attention.
"Aäron!" I shouted. He turned around quickly and ran toward me, lifting his sword in attack position.
"Get down!" he commanded. I immediately ducked to the ground as he jumped in the air and slashed a demonic being vertically through the torso, falling in the ash and blood-drenched soil. He came back to me and kneeled in front of me, sheathing his weapon.
"Are you okay, Erastus?" he asked in a calm tone.
"Y-Yes..." I shuttered. Aäron sighed in relief.
