Kai walked out of his quarters with a mug of the terrible coffee, which they get served on board, it does taste like old shoes. Still he should thank Ash for bringing over to him. He felt kind of ill ever since he got out of the bed. His nose was running all night long, and his throat felt sore, hurting a little. But he had no time to slouch around. So he'd pulled tighter his working jacket and headed out of his quarters, down the corridor. His cold wasn't something that would make him take off the day. Kai has been swallowing some pills that will help him get through his shift. At least that's what he thought.

Heading over to his working place, every now and then coughed he into his Hand, earning looks of concern from the people, he passed by. Shrugging the emotions from them off. Or rather pretending not to see them at best he could. His mind currently with thoughts of other things, Kai after all has to look through these data's from Commander Shepard. Jack paid him a visit, yesterday before the end of this shift. Asking if he would be able to collect some information for him, it sounded urgently and important. Kai couldn't possible turn him down now, could he? Not after Jack had asked him still so nicely. He knew how much Shepard needs a helping hand.

Especially since he believed, the dark circles around Shepard eyes got a lot darker since the last time he did looked at them properly when the other wasn't looking. Without the being of starting to stare. Kai noticed at some point that he hasn't seen him sleep properly, for at least a few days, it could have been more like weeks. If he'd payed enough attention to him. Kai caught him dozing off whenever he did visit Shepard in his cabin thought, just like the day before yesterday. He were sitting in his seat, the desk full with reports and details about the next few missions which will be held in a few days. Kai caught a glimpse of the data's from the council, they want to speak to him... again. However, this time in person it seems. Must be because Shepard often cuts them short, sometimes listening to a single word of them and suddenly ending their conversation, in frustration and annoyance. He wondered when Shepard will get some free time, not that he had any in the last couples of months, it must take it's toll on him.

Kai had always placed around Jack's shoulders one of his blankets which did laid around in his cabin. It always looked like Shepard slept wherever he could. Kai always felt more at ease, whenever he'd watched Jack torso fall and raise. The best thing is, Kai always is welcome into the cabin. Right from the start got he told that his door is always open, either for him and of course for the rest of the crew. No need for knocking, but hardly any of them would enter without it. This morning however, decided Kai not to go to Shepard cabin, he kind of knew how Shepard would react when seeing him in the state he was in. Like a Parent, hands down on his hips, looking like he would scroll him. He practically were late already for his shift so in the end decided he against it, as if it not enough for almost sleeping in. Because of the illness which is haunting his body right now.

Once he was there, the damn monitor didn't start. So he had to fix it first, before doing anything else, it's just like any other day, the monitor doesn't start in the beginning. Ash teased him over it a couple of times, or a lot in fact. Telling him, he should ask Shepard to buy a new one. Although Shepard seems to be a arse when it comes to spend money... from the outside. He holds the money together, pretty well. Unlike some others... But she is sure when he ask him for it, Shepard will buy it for him. It must be her sixth sense. Or something like that. He couldn't possible ask him, she was out of her mind. As long as he gets it fixed, he won't need a new one.

His head is struck inside the inner of the monitor, as Kai felt dizzy, his head is spinning, his view becomes blurry for one moment. He made a small pause, steadying himself, Kai stood there, his hands leaned against his monitor, when his view got more blurry and Kai double over, not being able to steady himself greeted him the floor. The next thing he know is the feel of soft fabric brushing against his body. He grunted trying to open his eyes but they won't adjust to the dim light, just yet.
