changing jobs, finally to work from home
searching in the mountains, long move – city to country
home search – expensive, upkeep, setting, neighbors
quiet setting but "close" still off beaten path
house after house, in town, edge of town
today—nervous realtor, price reduced, close but hard to get to
acreage, woods, good condition log cabin, barn
long lane, 100 yards in, overgrown, rutted, rough going even with SUV—heavy going even for my jeep
wildlife watching, spoor criss-cross yard, drive/parking
walk open area, comfortable feel longer there
silence at first, more animal sound/evidence longer there
NO HUMAN NOISE; even realtor silent watching me
longer walking, poking, probing the more open and welcoming the feel
barn cleaner than expected, exterior holes didn't seem to have leaked—easily patched/repaired
cluttered but as though someone had gone to lunch and hadn't come back
seemed to be more clear area when walking to house
realtor staying close to suv, nervous even fearful
wouldn't go in house, comment about careful cause like barn, rundown, repairs needed – watch for snakes, spiders
walk around house, exterior rough maybe missing some caulking but just cosmetic like the barn not the holes and broken windows appeared when drove up
hard time unlocking, then opening the door – resistant to hard push but easier the more care taken to open without damage
growing feeling of being watched but nothing in sight looking around before entering
first impression matched what realtor described/warned but looking carefully, saw potential for comfortable life
little care, little love – clean up good, privacy
walking through, decent layout, good flow, open, just right for a single with little if any company
entered on mud/coat room with closet, hooks looking into kitchen open to dining beyond
kitchen dusty, cluttered same as barn, someone left but hadn't come back
walking into kitchen, sink to left below window – contrary to appearance outside not broken or even cracked, just dirty with like contact paper torn and hanging
appliances old but easily replaced, plenty of room, countertop rock slab of some sort, thought at first formica but nope
cabinets looked solid wood, no idea what kind but appealed, little dark but probably lighten with some cleaning
still pots and pans, dishes utensils in cabinets and drawers
furnished? Have to ask
table, chairs for four in dining, sofa in living to right, ahh and couple chairs with end tables, corner firplace would be bout center of home
nother door cross from firplace with open guest closet, hangers
short hall, bath with tub and sink, bedroom with closet and bed frame no mattress, chest, chair
second room, inset open shelves no closet, desk and chair
door at end of hall
master bedroom? Across back of house, closet in back corner and bath sharing wall wall with first bath, bed with mattress, dresser, chest, side tables, third door opposite closet
