Things aren't always the way they need to be. You could be completely ready for a job interview with skills that fit exactly with what the boss could want and still not get the job. That's fine though right? You could always try again. And again.... and again. And you will still be rejected. It's just how things seem to work now and days. You try and you try and you try and you still will struggle till the bitter end. "But that didn't mean you didn't try" some will say. But just because you've tried doesn't mean a thing. At least not to you. Perfect will never stay perfect.

Gavin sat on the curb of yet another business he had interviewed for. Another rejection on his shoulders and adding more doubt in his mind. Before the loss of his wife everything had been perfect. They never struggled for money and Gavin was able to comfortably say he could provide for the two on YouTube alone. That changed unfortunately when his wife announced that she was pregnant. He had been overjoyed and had showered her with love and support like any loving husband would. But little things began to pop up. Lies began to spread. And soon he found himself lost in a sea of troubles with no where to turn. The only thing left behind was the baby girl that he held in his arms in the hospital room beside the cold, lifeless body of his one and only.

Thoughts were ripped from the blue haired man as the sound of his phone ringing a familiar tone caught his attention, making him forget his worry of finding a proper job as he answered the phone. "Hey Stephen how's it going? Is Raven behaving?" He greeted his older brother happily. His brother's laugh helped ease his worries and clear his mind. Stephen had a way of doing that with his siblings, easing their troubles and making them feel better without even saying anything. "She's doing great! Just coloring with Hosuh right now. I called to see how the interview went". The silence seemed to be enough of an answer for his brother as he heard the older sign deeply. Thankfully he didn't say anything about it. "Why don't you come home?" Stephen suggested gently to which Gavin gave a sigh of his own and agreed.

It hadn't even been a second that he stepped into the house before he was tackled into a hug by a young child just barely over the age of 4. A loud giggle making him laugh as he picked up the offender and threw them in the air playfully before catching them. "Daddy! Look at what I made!" The child squealed in excitement as she presented her picture. It took a moment of him looking at it before he realized what the picture was of. It was a picture of the two of them in front of a big house, a few animals like cats and dogs scattered the paper in messy scribbles like it had been done in a rush. "This is where I want us to live! Can we get this house daddy please?!" Raven begged, using her secret weapon on him, the puppy dog eyes. Gavin felt the need to remind his daughter that they didn't have the money to afford such a place, but the need to reassure her and himself won over. Gently, the blue haired man set the brunette on her feet before placing his hands on her shoulders. "Don't worry sweety, one day we will have a nice home and as many pets as you desire" he stated as if he was stating an everyday fact, ignoring how his brother opened and closed his mouth as if trying to figure out whether or not to tell the truth of the situation and destroy the hope the young girl was clinging to. The hope he was desperately hanging onto by a withering thread. In the end it seemed like the man had allowed the two to have their fantasy and instead wandered deeper into his home to go make himself and his younger sibling some tea. The other following shortly after picking his child up and resting her on his hip.

Hosuh greeted him as polite as never, chuckling as Raven squirmed out of his hold and ran over to the silverette to ask him to draw more animals for her. Although the animator didn't usually like to draw animals and cute things as he had stated many times before, he could never deny the brunette's puppy eyes and would often spoiler her when he got the chance. It was this that made Gavin grateful to know him as Hosuh always had a way of keeping his daughter from losing the smile that was much like his wife's. A frown fell on his face for a split second before it was hidden behind a fake smile, the reminder bringing back more pain.

Raven looked exactly like her mother, her eyes a brilliant blue and a burning amber, hair fading naturally from a burnt brown to a cream. He cherished her and tried each and every day to provide for her and make sure she never lost that smile. Anything to not lose what he had left of what once made him happy. His daughter was his world. Although she grew up in a world that would never be fair, he would do his best to show her the good in life. Even now as she whined to her uncle about needing a new blue crayon to finish her latest picture of the two of them together, he knew they would be ok. What was another day searching endlessly for a job? He had a goal and that was to buy the house that looked exactly like the picture he still held tightly in his hands. He'd get a few cats and a dog as well.

Life will be great.
