CHAPTER ONE

I woke up.

I got up slowly and took a glance at my arms, my legs and my body to make sure I have them all. I streched my arms and closed my eyes because I could finally feel the sun blessing my skin and the perfect breeze of spring playing with my hair. I opened my eyes but forced them shut as a terrible headache destroyed my happines to be alive.

Happy to be alive...Why?

What happened?

Where am I ?

Or better, Who am I ?

The struggle to understand made my pain deepen.I sighed and rubbed my temple. After some hard thinking, I realized my feet had nothing under. I screamed in the fear of falling, but I didn't. I was just floating in mid-air with my hand over my mouth to suppress my laughter. I WAS FLYING. I took my hands off my mouth and giggled.

And then I saw it. My giggles were replaced by a horriefied gasp as my eyes spotted on the cold, hard ground a girl my age, I think, that was trembling with her hands on her belly. A black BMW with crushed windows and without one door  near her.

She was laying in a pool of blood. She was covered in it. A sudden urge to help her, save her filled my mind and I made an attempt to reach her, but I didn't know how.  An agonizing tear appeared and made its way down my cheek.
She was dying. I just knew it. With every drop of energy that left her soul, I grew stronger and stronger. I hated it. I took a glance at the girl. She was breathing heavier and heavier with every flinch of my eye.

I tried again to get to her and because of the stolen energy, I succeed.

I planted my hand on her torso to feel the steady rhythm of her heart. I realized how close she was to the end. I took her little hand and squeezed it,  making her eyes shot open. She slowly turned her gaze at me.  Her turquoise irises widened in surprise and confusion as she found her voice just to say.

" You're me. You're Janice Tarford" .

My mind was flooded by an enormous wave of memories as my identity was revealed.

She raised her index finger and I barely touched it with my own before the energy drained for me and dived into the soul of the owner. Immediately, her heart began plumping blood faster.

I smiled but I was only greeted by darkness.
