Valerie's POV
I sat admiring my ring on the couch before more people started filing in. It was a little too late for breakfast but too early for lunch as well. Vic had one arm around me happily as he watched me stare at my hand in admiration.
"I wonder who's gonna notice first." Vic had leaned over and whispered in my ear, causing me to giggle. I looked up at him with a smile spread over my lips and he was looking back at me. I reached my lips up and he met me halfway with a passionate kiss. My arms found their way around his neck and his pulled me onto his lap.
I smiled into our kiss and when Vic pulled away, I noticed he was smiling too.
"You're beautiful. You know that?" I felt a blush creep over my face and casted my eyes down like I was a teenager again. No matter how long we're together, or how many times he compliments me, I will never get used to it.
"Thanks." I mumbled shyly and he placed his hands on the sides of my face and lifted it so I was gazing into his eyes.
"You are." He kissed me again and it was short and sweet.
"Believe me, you are." His voice was just above a whisper and I wrapped my arms behind his back and nuzzled my face into the side of his neck.
Vic started singing to me but our moment was soon interrupted.
"Val and Vic, you guys come help make breakfast." Belle had popped her head into the family room to tell Vic and I to help cook. Needless to say, I was a bit lazy.
When Vic was by the door, he turned around and noticed I hadn't gotten up. Instead, I was lying face down on the couch.
"Babe, come on."
"Meeeeeeh." Vic came over to me and tried to get me up, but failed. "Just leave me here to become a potato." He chuckled at me and moments later I was over his shoulder, being carried into the kitchen.
"Got her!"
"Great, now bring her over here to cut peppers with me." I let out a groan as Vic set me on my feet and I pouted. He kissed my forehead and I grinned as he cradled my cheek before helping Jaime make toast.
Belle and I cut peppers until she suddenly grabbed my hand. I looked up at her from the cutting board and she raised her eyebrows. When I nodded, a huge smile spread over her face and she hugged me.
"Congrats, I'm so happy for you! Why didn't you say anything?"
"We're trying to see who notices first. So far, just you."
The four of us continued to cook breakfast and pretty soon, everyone was downstairs and eating at the table. Conversation was flowing and every one in a while, someone would notice I was wearing my ring. It was down to Tony and Jaime.
"Hey, Val, you're engaged now?" Tony noticed and I held up my hand to show everyone.
"Woah, you're engaged!?" Jaime was in complete shock and I laughed.
"Yup!" A few congratulations and some claps later, everyone had found out about my engagement and life was great.
Jayne's POV
My sister was finally engaged and meanwhile, I was in the middle of the scariest moment of my life. Mike leaned over to whisper to me.
"You ready to go?" I nodded and he excused us from the table. We were already dressed so all that was left to do was grab our jackets and go. Without another word, I let Mike grab my hand and lead me out the house. He opened the car door and I climbed in absentmindedly and awaited the ride.
