At the Sendai Plant, a high-efficiency gas turbine cogeneration system using natural gas was introduced into the thermal energy equipment that supplies the production equipment. Natural gas has almost no sulfur oxides or soot even when burned, and has an environmental characteristic of emitting less carbon dioxide than petroleum. "Natural gas is supplied from a high-voltage trunk line with high reliability considering earthquake resistance, so it is effective from a business continuity plan (BCP) viewpoint," the company said.
