Chapter 6

I sat, slumped in English. I was trying to take in what the teacher was saying but I couldn’t stop thinking about that kiss with Jai. It may sound cliché but it was truly magical, like it meant something, I know this sounds stupid, because we barely know each other, but that’s the thing with Jai; I feel like I’ve known him forever.

‘OI BECCA GET THE DOOR’ I screamed from our bedroom.

‘It’s alright, I’ll get it’ Katy walked out from her study and I could hear her open the door and the muffled voice of Jai.

Shit.

I jumped out of bed and caught a glance of myself in the mirror, I had shoved a pair of jogging bottoms on and my hair was up in a pony, I looked a mess, but I could already hear footsteps coming up the corridor.

‘Your friend is here Lily’ Katy chuckled to herself before leaving to go back to her study, which left Jai to walk in.

‘Erm hey’ Jai smiled, nervously sitting down on my bed.

‘Oh yeah, come in’ I laughed sarcastically. ‘What are you doing here anyway?’

‘To see you’ he smiled, I swear I saw him blush too, not that he was the only one.

‘So who was at the door?’ Becca walked in ‘oh, erm hi Jai’ she said, stifling her giggles. She walked over and lay down on her bed, I shot her a death glare, thanks for ruining the moment, bitch.

‘No, the main reason I came was that Aarons mate is having a party tomorrow night and I was wondering if you’d like to go’ he paused ‘with me?’

I stared at him as butterflies filled my stomach.

‘I’d love to’ I hugged him and I could feel him smile with relief, he was just the cutest.

‘Oh and Becca, Beau and the other boys are going if you’re interested?’ Jai looked over at Becca who was glued to her phone.

‘Erm, yeah okay’ she smiled, but not really sure of what she was saying.

‘Okay, well come to ours at seven tomorrow, it’s sort of smart casual’ Jai quickly kissed me on the cheek, bearing in mind Becca was in the room then quickly went home for soccer practice.

‘So...’ Becca said, finally putting down her phone.

I looked at her, telling her to carry on.

‘You and Jai...’ she smiled cheekily.

I blushed and I could feel a smile creep onto my face.

‘You are ridiculous, but I’ve got to admit he is pretty cute’ she said. She was right, he was insanely cute, I was falling for him and I loved it.

Jai’s P.O.V

I got a quick shower and styled my hair so it was in its normal messy, swept look then pulled on a navy polo shirt and some dark jeans. Beau walked into my room whilst buttoning up his shirt.

‘Someone’s making an effort’ I laughed, looking at his blue shirt.

‘And what’s the matter with making an effort?’ he asked.

I shook my head before rushing over to answer the door, I opened it to find Lily and Becca. I stared at Lily, she looked amazing. She wore a cream floaty dress, which came to just above the knee with a brown belt which fastened around her waist. Her hair was straight and her side fringe drew attention to her again, beautiful blue eyes.

‘Shut your mouth, you’ll catch flies’ Mum whispered in my ear before politely introducing herself to the girls.

‘You not coming?’ Becca asked Luke who was lying on the sofa watching Spongebob.

‘naa, I’m off to Tylers and I don’t have anyone to go with anyway’ Luke replied, still not taking his eyes off the TV.

‘Well neither have I, but it’s still going to be fun’ Becca said.

‘I thought you were coming with me’ Beau joked, linking Beccas arm playfully.

‘In your dreams’ she smiled cheekily and shrugged him off, as much as he wouldn’t admit it, I knew he liked Becca, even if it was just a small amount.

We all walked started to walk over to the party which was about 15 minutes away. I caught up with Becca and put my hand into hers; she looked at me and smiled sweetly. Once we got the party loads of people were already there and I could see James making his way through the crowd.

‘Hey guys’ he said, before pouring us all a drink from the vast range of alcohol which was on the table. I looked at Lily making sure she was okay to drink and she basically snatched it out of James’ hand.

‘You look amazing by the way’ I said to Lily, it was about half an hour into the party and we went to find a seat in the corner.

‘As do you’ she smiled then leant in and kissed me on the lips, we pulled away slightly then deepend the kiss as she wrapped her arms round my neck. Electricity filled my body; I couldn’t tell whether it was Lily or simply the alcohol.

‘Get a fucking room’ Skip interrupted us, laughing.

We both blushed as I held my middle finger up to him.

‘Well this escalated quickly’ he carried on. ‘you were friends the other day’

‘You’re just jealous’ Lily laughed, grabbing another drink.

‘Are you sure that’s wise?’ I said quietly, indicating to the drink, so Skip wouldn’t hear.

‘Yes Jai, I’m fine’ she insisted, gripping my hand.

I didn’t want to be over protective, but she’d had like six drinks, and none of us were sure of what exactly was in them.

Beau’s P.O.V

‘What the hell is in this?’ Becca asked, as she took a sip out of her drink.

I couldn’t keep my eyes off her. I’d tried telling myself not to, I didn’t need another relationship but she was gorgeous. She wore a fitted, simple black dress with medium height heels and her long blonde hair was perfectly straightened and hung down her back.

I shrugged, answering her question and coming out of my daydream.

‘Lets dance’ I put down hers and mine drinks and grabbed her wrist, leading her to where everyone was dancing.

‘What are you doing?’ she laughed, freeing my grasp.

‘Having fun, that’s what you wanted to do in Australia right?’ I replied, trying to be heard over the music.

‘Yeah I suppose, ahh what the hell’ she joined me dancing and started to sing along to the music.

The music suddenly changed and to a slower song, people started to drift away but more couples came through and I could see Jai and Lily starting to dance in the corner. Becca turned away but I grabbed her arm.

‘Where are you going?’ I smiled cheekily.

‘Were just friends Beau’ she said, looking at the other couples who were swaying along to the beat of the music.

‘Who says friends can’t dance together’ and before she could argue otherwise I carefully rested my hands on her waist, she rolled her eyes and followed me, putting her hands around my neck. We swayed to the music as her green eyes looked into mine. I couldn’t resist any longer and I tilted my head and leaned in.

‘What the fuck are you doing?’ she stepped away.

Shit.

‘I’m sorry, I thought...’

‘We’re just friends’ she sighed then returned to the way we were before.

Stop it Beau, stop it now.
