That Girl Ch1
The smoke, the smell of burning flesh, their eyes. Oh god, their unmoving eyes. I tried to wipe my eyes again and blood stained my hands. Hai, I have to find Hai. I crawled out of my seat and found Hai stuck under some stranger.
"Hai, wake up! We have to move." no response. "Hai please, please. WAKE UP". I pulled him out from under the stranger and through the window. "Hai, why are you so heavy, open your eyes. Why are you bleeding so much, Hai, Please." I had just managed to pull Hai out a couple meters from the bus when my ears rang and things went black.
Hai, it's so dark here, Hai are you here? Hai... Hai... I'm so scared.
I jolted awake. My face wet with tears, I tried to calm down and took in the view of my bedroom.
7am, great, I'll be late on the first day again. I quickly washed up and threw cold water on my face to reduce my puffy eyes. I put on some blue jeans and pulled a black tank top over my head, the scars on my back reflected in the mirror. I left my long black locks down for today, it'll help cover some of the scar peaking through on my shoulder. I grabbed my bag and keys then rushed downstairs. Hmmm, Ma made blueberry pancakes and bacon today. Why couldn't I have woken up earlier? Damn alarm. Maybe I'll set two tomorrow.
"Ma, can I have a pancake and bacon in a bag? I'm late again."
"You also missed your dad, he just left 5 minutes ago."
"I wish you would've woke me up, I rarely get to see him."
"I heard your alarm 30 minutes ago, I thought you had woken up. Well, you can try again tomorrow, maybe set two alarms this time." She handed me a container of pancakes and some bacon. I took an extra piece of bacon and shoved it all in my mouth.
"Lily, that's disgusting, eat like a lady." She said as she gave me peck on the cheek. Her green eyes warmed with amusement. A loose blonde strand of hair fell over her face as she looked at me. What an absolute gorgeous face she has, with her perfect straight nose and her full lips.
"Ma, you're so pretty. If only I had the luck to share you genes." I sighed.
"Oh, sweetie, don't say that. You are beautiful in your own light." she cooed. "Now hurry up, I'm not liking your tradition of being late on the first day every year!" She shoved me towards the door.
"Love you!" I shouted after she closed the door on me.
It was only a ten minutes drive to school, but who knows how long the line will be at Mrs. Willams office to get my class schedule. Greenville highschool wasn't necessarily a private school, but they had so many high profile children attending that it's gated and you have to pass through security before you can get to the school. That just means another delay. I gave the guard my ID and he had to take a double look, "Lily Johnson?"
"That'd be me." I replied.
"New here?" he asked.
"I am not, but I think you are." Given that he wasn't working here before summer break.
"Well alright, have a good first day." How odd of him to be wishing me a nice day.
"Thanks, same to ya." I parked my Honda CRZ in a flock of BMWs, Mercedes, and Audi's. I didn't have anything against luxury cars, I just liked my hybrid.
7:45, I have fifteen minutes before first block. Luckily there wasn't a line outside Mrs. Williams office.
"Hi Mrs.William, I'm here for my schedule!" she gave me a smile as soon as she saw me. The summer tan still glowing on her skin.
