I wonder where Dakota is she always at your little practices. Oh well I need to focus on the lyrics. I started to sing New Years Day.

We finished the song and before we started another song Jake spoke up,"ummm guys I don't know how to say thing but ummm...." he stopped. "What is it man?" Jinxx asked. Jake quickly mumbled under his breath about something but no one could understand. "Speak up or forever hold you peace," CC said trying to figure out what he was going to say. Then after a couple seconds Jake hide his face and said "I think I like Dakota." Everyone sat there shocked. We sat there in silence for a moment before I spoke up "since when?"
"Ummm... I don't know when it just kind of happened out of no where."
"I'm happy for you man why haven't you told her," CC said trying to make not embarrassed.
"I can't get myself to do it I have a feeling she is going to flip out on me and reject me, I don't really want that," Jake signed looking at the ground. "I understand how you feel," Ashley said. I glared at him I knew he had no problems talking to girls and I think the rest of the guys knew that too. Jake still looked at the ground. I got up and went to the kitchen and made some popcorn I wanted to munch. I wonder what happened to Dakota. I walked to her room and knocked at first she didn't answer so I knocked again I heard movement coming from her. She opened the door "hi.." she was still what looked like waking up. "I was checking making sure you didn't die." I giggled. "No I must have been tired." "I understand, I will leave you alone now." She smiled before I walked away hearing her door shutting.

~Dakota's POV~
"Hey,"
"Hey baby girl, how have you been?"
"I've been good. how about y'all."
"We have been good I know this is late but I wanted to wish you a happy birthday."
"Thanks, mom. Are you and dad going to be home soon?"
"I don't think so honey. Why are you asking?"
"Oh I am leaving here for the summer to go with my friends across country."
"Oh okay, I hope you have fun with your friends. And remember leave the key where we always leave it. And be safe."
"I will mom I promise."
"I'm soo sorry hun but they need the phone back and sorry for the late birthday wishes."
"It's fine mom as long as I got one from you, I love you mom, call me again soon."
"Bye sweetie I love you too." With that she hung the phone up. I felt a tear slip from my eyes. I wiped the tears off of my face before hearing the back door open.
"Who was that?" A concerned voice said. I didn't want to talk to any one. I didn't answer I just kept looking at the ground trying to be quiet and not trying to cry loudly. I miss my mom so much, it wouldn't be as bad if she didn't call me. Jake started to rubbing cirles on my back. I looked up at him; I never realized how pretty his eyes. Another tear slipped out of my eye a before I could wipe it away Jake did which just made me feel more upset. I hugged Jake and cried in this shoulder. He didn't say anything or push me away, he held me. I finally stopped crying looking at his shirt that had a big wet spot were I had been crying "I'm sorry," I looked down at the ground. He hugged me again and whispered in my ear, "it's fine done worry about it." I pulled away from the hug and looked at Jake in his eyes. They were the prettiest color carmel brown I have ever seen. I closed my eyes to hold back the rest of my tears. Before I could open my eyes I felt lips crash against mine. They were gentle I kissed back, but only for a second when I felt Jake's lips leave mine. It felt right kissing him. He didn't look at me and looked at the ground. I kissed his cheek blushing. Did I really just do that I thought to myself. I looked at him puzzled, it was quiet but not awkward quiet. I want to say something so he will look at me again but I don't know what to say I mean I do like Jake. "I'm so sorry," I heard Jake mumble. "Why are you sorry?" I looked at him confused even though he still hadn't looked up from the ground. "I'm sorry for kissing you I don't know what came over me." he said looking up at me with a worried look on his face. I didn't know what to do I wanted to kiss him again but that would just make things awkward. I hugged him as tight as I possibly could which want very tight. I felt a soft kiss on my temple and looked up and just smiled.
