The Corner Itself

Their eyes meet, and the world collapses onto itself, revolving around the room and the four corners it makes up. And in this moment, without their knowledge, three separate paths of fate have emerged. The first path, like all others do, begins with the corner that Tyrone Watson Jr. has taken shelter in.

He nods in her, Mira's, direction. She gives him a playful wave, with chipped nail polish, and callouses left over from summer. In return, he gestures with his head for her to join him. She rolls her eyes, her head shaking no, and the tug of war between their souls have begun. It almost seems like Mira will win, but fate's pull has other ideas, and she finds herself surfing through the crowd of people, towards the brooding shadow that beckoned her.

"Aren't you lonely? It's no fun pouting all by yourself."

"I wouldn't say I'm pouting. Besides, haven't you noticed I'm the only guy who decided to show up?"

Mira glances around at the bubbly freshmen gathered for the first game night of the semester. The crowd of pale skin, blonde hair, and thin bodies all blurring together.

"Well, I happen to know the Union has a bowling alley free with Student ID," she offers.

"And I happen to have a bowling ball in my room."

"Care to join me then?"

"Maybe if I knew your name, I'd be more inclined to accept your invitation."

"Seems a bit old fashioned, doesn't it my good sir?"

"Tyrone Watson," He offers his hand, "Jr. But you can call me Ty."

She takes the unspoken deal, "Mira Jones."

Fingers overlapping, they leave without questioning why, and step out onto the first path.
