Heather's POV
Rick and Jonathan are using sledge-hammers against the ceiling. Evelyn is gently chipping away with a tiny chisel. The Warden had disappeared, I sit down on a statue watching the others. "According to my calculations, we should be right under the statue. We'll come up right between his legs" Evie tells us. She blushes saying "oh my".
"And when those dirty Yanks go to sleep" Jonathan starts to say. "No offense" he tells Rick.
"None taken" Rick assures him.
"We'll sneak up and steal that book right out from under them" Jonathan states.
"And you're sure you can find the secret compartment?" I ask them.
"Yes, if their Egyptologist hasn't already found it" Evie states.
"I say, what's our smelly little friend got himself up to?" Jonathan asks us.
"Don't know, don't care" I tell him. "We're better off without him" I add. Later we're taking a break and Evelyn is explaining mummification to Rick.
"Lemme get this straight, they stuck a sharp, red hot poker up your nose, cut your brain into small pieces, then ripped it all out through your nostrils?" he asks her.
"Ouch, that's gotta hurt" Jonathan says as he plays golf. Really he's really just hitting small rocks with a sledge hammer.
"It's called mummification. You're dead when they do this" Evie assures them.
"Unless you did something very naughty" I add smirking.
"For the record, if I don't make it out of here, don't put me down for mummification" Rick tells me.
"Likewise" Jonathan and I say. Jonathan hits another stone and the ceiling near them gives way. As a massive stone casement drops out of it and crashes to the floor. Rick covers Evelyn and I.
"You both ok?" he asks us. We nod our heads as the dust is starting to clear. We all slowly get up and step over to the massive stone casement.
"Oh my god,... it looks like, it looks like a sarcophagus" Evelyn and I say together.
"Why would they bury somebody in the ceiling?" Jonathan asks.
"It wasn't" I tell him as I look up at the ceiling.
"It was buried at the base of Anubis, he was either someone of great importance" Evelyn says.
"Or did something very naughty" I add smirking. We clear the dirt off the top of the sarcophagus, revealing a single, ominous hieroglyph. Evelyn stares at it Jonathan impatiently strums his fingers across the lid.
"Well?... Who is it?" Jonathan asks his sister. Evelyn stares at the hieroglyph, confused and concerned.
"He that shall not be named" she reads.
"Have we found you know who?" I ask jokingly.
"Not the time to joke" Rick tells me as he dusts off a huge lock. "There's some sort of lock here. You say these thing's are made of granite with a steel interior?" he asks Evelyn.
"Quarried granite with a cobalt lining" she explains.
"Whoever's in here, sure wasn't getting out" Jonathan states.
"No kiddin', without a key, it'll take us a month to crack this thing" I tell him.
"A key! That's it! That's what he was talking about!" Evelyn exclaims.
"Who was talking about what?" Rick and I ask her. As Evelyn starts rummaging through the pack on Jonathan's back.
"The man on the barge. The one with the hook, he was looking for a key" she states. Evelyn pulls out the puzzle box. Jonathan tries to take it back.
"Hey, that's mine!" he whines. Evelyn slaps his hand and quickly unfolds the puzzle box. It's now shaped exactly like thelock's keyhole. Evelyn smiles as she places it in the keyhole.
Suddenly we hear the Warden's screams echoing through the labyrinth. All four of us turn and take-off running. After Jonathan pocketed the key. We run up just as the Warden starts ripping his own hair out of his head.
Rick and Jonathan grab at the Warden's hands, but he's far too crazed. He shoves them aside, runs full bore down the length of the labyrinth. He slams his head straight into a rock wall. The Warden drops to the ground. Dead as lead eyes wide open.
"I say we call it a night, we can open the sarcophagus tomorrow" I tell the others. They all agree with me. So we leave the tomb and go back to our campsite. Where Rick builds us a fire.
