The Race of the Forest
Kagubatan
The Kagubatan live natively in the forest regions of Krilova. They have adapted to peaceful, woodland environments. They settle in several small villages throughout the forest, living independently. They hunt animals of the forest and use every single piece of the animal, not letting its body be wasted. This is to be sure that the animal’s spirit is pleased that even after death it may still support life. They also grow crops of many different fruits and vegetables along with raising healthy livestock. They are very territorial with their land and remain unhesitant to attack those who trespass or try to damage the forest. There have been times where other races have tried to chop down the forest trees for logging, fruits, animals, etc. and have caused great conflicts with the Kagubatan, so much that it once broke out into a war. This was the Territorial War which was between the Batoid and the Kagubatan. The end result was the death of many innocent lives sent out by the Batoid for wealth and greed and the Kagubatan who only wanted to fight for their home. A truce was created between the two races after the Batoid realized their great mistake. Never have they fought again. The Territorial War lasted for three whole years… around five hundred years ago. In present times most of the Kagubatan of newer generations have actually left the forest to travel, explore and start new lives in other parts of the world with other races. This goes against their traditional ways greatly, but elder Kagubatan do not attempt to stop the younger generations from leaving as it is believed that they should be allowed to lead their own lives and not have their fates chosen for them. Those who decide to stay in the forest learn traditional ways from elders and continue to keep their ways alive. The Kagubatan have many trading docks surrounding the ocean shores of the forest, which they trade resources to and from other races, though they never accept money as they have no use of it. The most common attraction for Kagubatan leaving home is to join the Krilovian Knights in the mountains. They associate their magic with life and the winds. They may control the wind for their own advantage in personal use and battle. They may also heal themselves and others from illness and injury through direct spells or by creating medicinal herbs. These herbs are great for curing diseases and healing wounds. Medical herbs are also the main thing other races set out to trade for with the Kagubatan by sailing to several docks on the shores of the forest. Also, the herbs are not created though manufacturing in factories, they are created individually, carefully and skillfully. They supply the world with most if not all of the world’s medicine. It is considered good luck to be on a journey from the forest across the ocean as the Kagubatan may direct the winds to guide sails for the sailors to leave with a safe successful trip.
