My eyes fluttered open. Blue skies filled my mind, and I smiled at the sight. My fingers tingled as I pushed my body up into a sitting position, and lifted my hand to inspect. My eyebrows furrowed in confusion, and my smile fell, as I noticed the long stream of blood, dried down my arm. A large gash settled between my pinky and ring fingers, scratched down to my wrist. It began to sting as I moved the fingers around. My eyes wondered to the rest of my body. Small cuts and scratches were scattered, each of them slightly adding to the overall pain and soreness I felt. I gathered enough strength to stand, stumbling when at last I got to my feet.

I stretched my arms above my head, yawning. I kept my eyes closed, as I ran my hands through my hair, the blonde strands catching my fingers at the snarls. As I open my eyes again my hands moved to my hips and I surveyed the area around me. I saw others, who looked to be unconscious with few sitting up as I had been previously. I almost instantly recognized my sister, and I began to do a combination of walking and stumbling towards her in the quickest way I could.

“Miranda, wake up Miranda,” I said almost sleepily.

Almost on command she grunted, turning herself away from me. I noticed the way her hair was snarled, like mine. I knew, that was the way I looked. Having an Identical twin was like carrying a mirror. I shook her until she woke.

“God Jessica, you look terrible. Where are we?” She said quietly and groggily. I chuckled at her immediate recognition of my appearance and responded to her question.

“Honestly I’m not sure where we are. You have to get up though; I need you to help me figure out what happening.”

I began crawling to the people around us, shaking them awake like I had done to Miranda, and she began doing the same. I woke 2 others, and then attempted to wake a third. It was a girl, long beautiful brown hair. On the left side of her head was a large patch of blood indicating she had a head injury. I looked at her face, and remembered it from somewhere. My head shot up and I suddenly remember her, sitting next to me on a plane. I remember looking at her, as she shook her head, screaming. I looked back down at her and noticed she was pale. My eyes widened and I put my head to her chest, listening for her heart beat. With no luck, I realized she was dead.

Panic struck me and I sat up quickly. My eyes darted around, and I saw Miranda and a few others sitting, and talking, all looking strained. My eyes began wandering again and I located a large metal object, its large wings leading me to believe it is a plane. My mind began working more quickly and I registered the fact we had had a plane crash. I walked towards the group surrounding my sister, and did a quick head count. Four of them sat, five including me.

“ Well what happened then?” asked a small blonde hair boy, who’s boney body hid under a large coat, which I assumed belonged to the larger boy next to him who looked very similar, his hair matching the small boys. My sister began to speak but I interjected.

“We’ve crashed. That plane over there, I think it’s safe to assume we were on it. I’m sorry to say I believe were the only survivors. The rest are dead.”

There was an uncomfortable silence until a voice behind me spoke.

“If I’m dead then y’all are just the same,” A male voice stated. We all quickly turned and saw a very tall, awkwardly gawky boy looking about 15. He wore a t-shirt of green, ripped at the seam from the stomach down. He was skinny, though he had broad shoulders. His shaggy hair covered part of his eyes. He was noticeably attractive and carried a hatchet.

“I’m Jonah. It took you a good damn while to get up, I see. Me and Juno thought y’all were never gunn’ wake up!” He continued as he pointed behind him. We all averted our attention to where his thumb had been moved to, to see a much older girl, maybe 19,  appearing from the tree line, completely surrounding the field we sat on.

She wore long dark pants and a belt covered in square studs of silver. Her large, bulky black boots laced up her thighs. A black shirt with a lightning bolt hugged her chest and down to her belly button where only skin showed. She sported a leather jacket with chains running along the bottom. She was sort of short, especially next to Jonah, but her spiked hair gave her more height and thinned her muscular body out.  I had never seen a girl with a Mohawk, it surprised me. It was dyed purple and looked wet probably from the sweat that was obviously dripping down her face.

“Jonah, what the hell is wrong with you? I would get lost by myself!” She spoke to Jonah, hushing her voice though still showing her anger and irritation. He dismissed her with one hand and she began chewing on her lip ring in frustration. Jonah walked towards me, and pushed his hand towards me, offering to help me up.

“What’s your name lovely?” he asked me, with a smirk. He had a country accent that was particularly nice.

“Jessica,” I said. I smiled weakly, feeling myself blush. I continued. “Not to be confused with Miranda, my twin.” I pointed to her and he nodded his head at her showing recognition of the introduction. He backed up a foot and addressed the group.

“And the rest of ya’ll?”

The others hesitated to answer, though finally the older blonde boy spoke up.

“I’m Joseph, and this is Destery. He’s my little brother.” After joseph spoke the final boy spoke up.

“I’m Darrow.” he said abruptly, with a hint of attitude. Juno took a few steps forward, and spoke very similarly to Darrow.

“Alright, now that we’re all buddy-buddy I can give you kids the low down. Obviously, we’ve crashed. We’re not far from a city, whatever city it may be. I’m assuming we’re back in America, we were on that plane long enough to get out of Afric-” suddenly Juno was interrupted.

“I remember now! I couldn’t before, but I remember!” Destery shouted in an excited manner.

“Congrats kid. Want an award?” Juno said rudely. She then paused, and then continued. “As you all probably can figure out we will have to take off to find some people to help us.”

Darrow was quick to respond. “Oh please. It won’t be that long, sweetheart. The program manager will figure out that the help team isn’t back. We’re not even adults. I say we wait here.” Juno took no time to fight back.

“First of all, I’m 19. Second, I’m oldest; I’m in charge, so I’m the one who make the rules.”

Joseph then decided to join the argument. “I’m 18, so I’m legally obligated to do whatever I want, and to listen to you isn’t what I want.”

“Hey, I’m 14! I’m old enough to take care of myself,” added Destery who pouted and crossed his arms. Joseph immediately lightened his facial expression to calm his little brother.

“Sorry bro, you’re sticking with me.”

Destery was not pleased with Joseph’s response and said “This is the 21st Century! I can do what I want.” He then stood up and continued, “FREEDOM FOR ALL!” he shouted a put his fist into the air. Everyone giggled, and was slightly surprised at his action in such a situation. I decided to take the silence that followed as an opportunity to put my thoughts in.

“I think we should all stick together! No matter what we deci-” I was cut off mid-sentence, being hushed by Jonah.

We heard grunts coming from the trees to the left of us, and feet trudging. I began to think there were more of us who crashed. The figure slowly stepped out of the woods, while my eyes widened in terror. The figure became clear, its clothes torn to shreds, its eyes sunk back into their sockets and its skin practically grass- green. I was in shock, thinking overwhelmed me. How is this possible? My thoughts were interrupted when destery whispered next to me.
