*BEEP*
My phone chirped.
MOM: Hey Dawn. Have you finished your homework yet?
ME: Ya. Is it ok if I go out skating?
MOM: Yes, it's fine with me. I love you, be careful!
I locked my phone as I slipped on a pair of black skinny jeans and a black tank top. My hair was a mess but who did I really have to impress? It's just my friends. I stepped outside, leaving the comfort of the AC and replacing it with the brutal Florida summertime heat.
"Damn it's hot..." I pushed away my thoughts of crawling back into my house and hopped onto my board. It creaked as I turned due to the fact that I ride it in the rain. I really need to take it to the shop to fix it. After about 3 minutes, I finally get to my friends. They all were outside already. Jack, Sam, Kristen, and Riliey sat in a circle talking to each other.

"Sup, Dawn," Sam called to me. He wore baggy black pants and a red beanie that went well with his orange hair. He had his usual Monster energy drink and purple skateboard next to him.
"Hay hay hayy," I replied. "What's up man?" I sit down next to Kristen, who is busy chatting away with Riley about the latest boy she's kissed. That's not my style. Sam fist bumped me and said,
"I'm riding a fucking unicorn. What does it look like?" he smirked at his own sarcasm and I couldn't help but giggle. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw someone I didn't recognise. He was looking straight at me.
"Uhhh.. Can I help you?" I asked, kind of weirded out.
"This is James," Sam answered. he had shaggy, uncombed brown hair with an orange tinge. It was so unique. He also was clad in black, like me. "James, this is my friend, Dawn. I think you two will get along okay." I nodded and James replied,
"Sup." He had a deep voice, which I didn't expect, but hey I'm not complaining. He turned away to continue talking with Jack about COD Advanced Warfare and I noticed his eyes. They weren't anything special. Just brown eyes, but I can't explain why I was captivated by them, even today.
The day droned on, not too different from many others, the girls talking, and me watching the guys wrestle (which is kind of funny). Ever so often, I'd notice James glance at me and quickly look away when our eyes met.
~ About an hour later
I collapsed in the grass next to Sam and Riley as Kristen sas against a tall tree. James made himself comfortable on one of the limbs as everyone began talking. I feelt awkward being the only one not in a conversation so I try talking to James.
