Xenobia's POV

"Damn it to Hell!" I said hanging up from Xavier. I was seething with outrage. How dare Xander do this to me. He intentionally didn't tell me he was going to the pack house or why. He left me in charge here so that I wouldn't be able to attend the meeting Xavier had called me about.

My need for vengeance raged within, which only made the gears in my head turn. I was definitely going to make it to that meeting. It almost disgusted me to think Xander was mated to a human, but this definitely gave me plenty of ammunition for the fight.

I contemplated all the details, and came to the conclusion for the first time ever my mate may actually be useful. Normally I was disgusted by the half human mutt, but if Xander's mate wasn't accepted the Beta would become the new Alpha. That would make me the new Luna. Then I could leave this awful job and go back to my pack.

I was frowned upon for rejecting Xavier, and it was just easier to be here. If I was in charge though it might be worth the aging process and dealing with Xavier. This could definitely work to my advantage, but I'd have to fuck him to seal the deal.

I was still infuriated though. Xander had shot down every single one of her advances, and now he was taking a fucking human as a mate. It was his little twit of a secretary too. She was equally disgusted with herself now for all the opportunities she had given him. She couldn't be more beside herself with disgusting on goings of the Dumas's. Why were they so hell bent on diluting their Alpha bloodline? The whole family was beyond repulsive.

I spend the night plotting the perfect revenge on that family. I would enjoy watching them all be taken down a peg. After I spent all night stringing together the perfect plan, I get a second call from Xavier. Two in 24 hours never happens, what is this about now? There is also no time like the present to get this started.

"Xavier, what's a matter?" I try feigning concern.

"Xander said you were to stay there and keep things going while he is gone. He said he needed you there, because no one else could do it." He is lying. I can tell, and I don't like the fact that they are trying to use my ego against me. Now isn't the time for that.

I work on my most seductive purr, "Well that's a shame. I was looking forward to seeing you Xavier."

"Really?" He sounds skeptical.

"Is that so hard to believe? I'm not getting any younger."

"You're not really getting any older either." I thought he might throw that in my face since that was the reason I gave for rejecting him.

"Just because I am not aging doesn't mean I don't feel the passage of time, and you know I left because I could bare to see you so broken about it. I just wanted to be my own person for a while. To not just feel like property to my mate."

"Xenobia, what do you want me to say to you right now? You shattered my heart when you rejected me. Now you want what exactly?"

I work on my best crying sounds. I want to sound broken and emotional over his dismissal. "I want to grow old Xavier. I want to be with the pack. I want to be with you. I'm tired of living this life."

"And Xander finding a mate has nothing to do with this?"

"Damn it, Xavier! I'm sorry. Yes it may have something to do with it, but I have been missing you. That was just the icing on the cake, letting me know everyone else is settling down."

Silence on his head I wait to see if I am going to get a response from him.
"X, I'm sorry." That's when I cue the waterworks. "I'm tired, I'm broken, and I just want my mate."

"Xenia, what do you want from me? How do you expect me to react after all this time? Why should I just forgive you for breaking my heart and leaving it broken all these years?"

"Because Xavier, we both know I am the only one who can put it back together again."

He sighs heavily on his end but doesn't respond. "Do you want me to beg X? Is that it? You want me to grovel? I miss you."

He growls into the phone, and I can feel him relenting. "You still can't come right now. Xander would have my head on a pike."

Ah! Now we are getting somewhere, so it is Xander. "Let's just meet somewhere in the middle. I need to see you."

"I can't come now Xenia." She hated that he was calling her that childhood nickname, and acting so personal like he really knew her. This whole conversation made her want to vomit. "But," Yes, there was hope. "I can come after the meeting. I think Xander will be less demanding afterwards."

She quickly looked up the halfway point between them. She found the nearest 5-star hotel, that would get his attention. "Okay X, I am booking us a suite at the Ritz-Carlton for tonight, or do you need more time."

I could literally hear the excitement in his voice, "Tonight is perfect! I'll see you tonight, Xenia."

"Xavier, thank you for agreeing to meet me. I promise you won't regret it." Much!

"Xenobia, I'm trusting you."

"I know. I won't mess that up again. I want this more then you know." Half-truths aren't really lies, are they?

The line goes dead, and I celebrate my little victory. I pull together an even better plan, because I won't be liable for anything if I am not even there. Then I make the next call.

"Drain n' Store INC, how may I direct your call." She sounded like she hates her job. I would too if I was just a receptionist.

"Hello this is Xenobia Moon, calling Mr. Granger for Xander Dumas. I was asked to schedule an appointment for him."

"Hang on I'll transfer you to his secretary." I thank her for her time, and wait. I can't help the smile on face. It just feels like just dues. Since I wasn't good enough for him ever, let's see what he is willing to except from a mate. Furthermore, I know what will definitely deem her unworthy from the pack. I can't wipe the smile from my face as my call is transferred.

These mangy mutts are finally going to get what is coming to them.
