I was in my room, it was night time and a noise clinked on my window. I wasn't sleeping so I heard it and I opened a curtain to peak outside. The streetlamp was on but it offered little light to the blackness of the rest of the street. I looked into the front garden, there he was, the source of the noise. He threw another pebble at the window. I was slipped on some shorts and a vest and I crept out of the house towards him.

There we stood, him facing me, me facing him. He was wearing jeans and a large black hoodie which hung on his skinny frame. I turned and walked past him, out of the garden and down the street a bit, he followed slowly from a distance. I walked under a street lamp where a pool of yellow light lay on the ground and I slowly spun around in the light with my face turned towards it as if it was warming me. I stopped spinning and looked over at him, he just stood there watching me dance in the light. I went up to him and he opened his arms to beckon me into an embrace. I hugged him and he hugged me back, no words were exchanged, we just stood there, accepting each other's warmth and comfort.

He lead me then, by the hand. He lead me further up the street, past the junkyard, past the deserted factory, past the cranes. He lead me further and further into the night until we reached the edge of the ocean. The cold black water lapped around our bare feet in the warm summer night. We stood there looking out into the abyss, each away in our own thoughts. He suddenly shoved me from the side so I almost fell into the water, I yelped and looked over for him after catching my balance, he was running along the beach looking back to see if I was following, I ran after him. We chased each other around the sand for a while, laughing, not tiring or caring how late it was. Then we began to dance, he took my hands and we danced round and round in circles. It was as if the world was spinning us but we were remaining still as we looked deep into each other's eyes, not breaking eye contact. I tripped and fell onto the sand, he landed next to me, our chests heaving from running and dancing around. We lay next to each other then, holding hands, staring up at the stars, there wasn't a cloud in sight so they were all shining brightly. This was our night, our sky, the stars shining for our eyes only.
