Lying in bed, with the only light being the shine of the moon and without the barriers of their robes, Wei Wuxian is overwhelmed by how much he absolutely, whole-heartedly (whole-everything, really) loves Lan Wangji.

A sheen layer of sweat covered their skin but they didn't mind, not relenting their hold on each other as they cuddled. Lan Wangji's forehead ribbon was wrapped around Wei Wuxian's wrist, neatly and not so tight that it cut off his circulation.

The red ribbon that Wei Wuxian usually wore to hold up his hair was tied haphazardly around Lan Wangji's wrist in the same way. It wasn't necessarily planned, but they both could be the slightest bit possessive and in the midst of their love-making, couldn't resist giving in to their desire of using the ribbons in a different way than intended.

In the afterglow, the long strands of cloth flowed together as Wei Wuxian rested against Lan Wangji's chest, the fingers of his wrapped hand tracing over the brand mark on his husband's chest.

Before he could allow for unpleasant thoughts to resurface in his mellowed mind, Lan Wangji reached up for the excess ribbons and with a surprising amount of care, began to braid a strand of white and a strand of red together with one hand. Wei Wuxian watched him work with a smile on his face, warmth spreading through him.

When Lan Wangji was finished, he laced their fingers of their bound hands and lifted them up for them both to inspect. The white and red laced together beautifully, two pieces of them interlocked.

"It looks nice, don't you think, Lan Zhan?" Wei Wuxian asked.

"Mm," he replied, softly.

Looking up into the golden eyes of his husband, Wei Wuxian grinned,

"Now you're stuck with me forever~!"

"Mm," Lan Wangji's face broke out into a loving smile as he met Wei Wuxian's gaze.

 "I hope so."

Wei Wuxian's face flushed slightly at that  somehow Lan Wangji always knew what to say to make Wei Wuxian fall even more in love with him.

He pressed a kiss to Lan Wangji's collarbone, just above the brand, before continuing on his way up. It was a little awkward due to having one hand tied to his husband's but he managed, maneuvering his body so that he straddled Lan Wangji's thighs and left a trail of kisses all the way up his already marked neck.

Lan Wangji retaliated by wrapping his arm around Wei Wuxian, holding him closer and closer until they practically melted into one soul being. Their tied hands rested beside Lan Wangji's head as Wei Wuxian finally made it to his lips, nipping gently at his lower lip.

Lan Wangji didn't hesitate to kiss him harder, his free hand reaching up to tangle in his unruly hair, tugging lightly and eliciting a moan from the smaller of the two.

"Lan Zhan, will you promise me something?" Wei Wuxian asked, his words broken up between kisses.

"Anything," Lan Wangji answered, pausing in their kiss and peering up at him with gentle questioning in his eyes.

"Promise that you'll stay with me? That you'll hold me close to you and never let go?" Wei Wuxian knew that he was asking for much, but he had declared after realizing how stupidly oblivious he was to Lan Wangji for most of his life that he was not going to hold back his feelings ever again.

Lan Wangji sat up, keeping Wei Wuxian close as he gently kissed his forehead, then the lid of his right eye and then the left, the tip of his nose, and both of his cheeks before whispering,

"I promise to stay with you. I promise that I will hold you close and never let you go."

Wei Wuxian grinned he thought he might actually burst with the happiness that he felt when he was with him and slammed their lips together, allowing Lan Wangji to switch their positions and pull him close. Squeezing Lan Wangji's hand, the white and red ribbons around their wrists remained interlaced together representing a promise that will never be broken.
