Sypha, Trevor and Alucard sat somber around the crackling campfire.

While Trevor and Sypha had made occasional small talk, Alucard hadn't spoken barely a word since killing his father a month ago.

Nevermind that he hadn't been speaking much, what truly surprised Trevor was the vampire tagging along with he and Sypha just showing up a day or two after they had left him at the castle, and wordlessly following along their journey with them.

"You aren't staying at the castle then?"

Trevor had asked to which Alucard had only shook his head.

"I see..."

Trevor began, only for Sypha to elbow him, telling Alucard that he was more then welcome to accompany them to the nearby town.

That'd been several days ago.

Now the trio sat in the middle of the forest, staring at the fire.

"I'm going to bed."

Sypha stated simply, standing up and stretching her arms above her head.

"Don't kill each other while I'm sleeping. Got it, Belmont?"

Trevor grimaced.

"Why are you aiming moreso towards me?"

Sypha rolled her eyes, crawling to her bed space in the wagon.

Trevor looked up at Alucard.

Not the slightest reaction.

Not like they'd had before.

No smirk, no sarcastic retort, no laugh.

Nothing.

Trevor furrowed his brows, standing up and plopping down next to Alucard, making The dhampir glance over at him questioningly.

Trevor said nothing, pulling a large bottle of liquor, seemingly out of nowhere.

Alucard actually managed a small smile and shook his head.

Something cool slid under his chin, making him flinch a little.

Trevor held the bottle under his chin, offering it much to the dhampir's surprise.

"Here...have a drink."

The vampire smirked now.

"I don't need to drink my sorrows away like you, Belmont."

"So you admit your feeling sorrows?"

Trevor teased with a smile.

Alucards mind wandered back to when he was crying in the castle.

"I suppose you could say that. I am half human after all."

"Can't vampires feel as well though? I mean your father loved your mother."

Alucard nodded but smiled mischievously.

"Oh so now you admit vampires are similar to humans in some way?"

"...I suppose I am."

Looking taken aback, Alucard eyed Trevor with confusion, making the hunter bark out a laugh.

"What cat got your tongue, Dhampir?"

Alucard said nothing, merely taking the bottle from Trevor with a soft forlorn chuckle.

"I...I look that bad, huh?"

He mumbled, eyes slipping to the ground.

Trevor shook his head.

"You've always looked bad."

He tried to joke but got no response, making the Belmont sigh.

"Alright...Yes you do seem to be a bit..."

Trevor hesitated.

"-Out of it lately. I'm surprised you've even responded to me at all, considering you've gone a month or so with speaking more then a handful of words."

"I'm fine."

Alucard stated lamely.

"Are you sure? I wouldn't be after losing all the family I had."

Gritting his teeth Alucard growled.

"I'm not a child, Belmont. You don't have to babysit me."

Trevor chuckled.

"Yes, but you are the human personification of teenage angst however. So that in it self at least entails me the right to check up on you. That and...."

Trevor hesitated.

"You are my friend."

He said softly, making the Dhampir look at him in disbelief.

"Well I suppose it's and honor to make your acquaintance then."

Alucard breathed with another long sigh, before uncorking the bottle.

"Oh so I tell you were friends and now you decide drink right afterwards."

Grinning, Alucard held the bottle to his lips before replying to Trevor.

"If I'm going to be friends with you, then I'm going to need to drink."

"What?! I'm not that bad!"

Alucard and Trevor burst out in soft laughter.
