Lace

I took Thor to a New Years party so he cab experience a mortal holiday. He seemed confused for the most part as he watched people drink away. I put down my pot luck item and looked around at the wonderful food. He drank from the flask containing his own liquor. I kissed his cheek and grabbed a wine glass, pouring myself a drink.

"Y/n! I can't believe you made it! And who is this stud?" Stacy eyed Thor and I chuckled.

"I convinced him to come with me. Technically it would be his first new years kiss." I felt Thor wrap an arm around me. "Thor, this is Stacy, she is a coworker of mine."

"Nice to meet you, madam Stacy." He bowed slightly and I rolled my eyes. A smirk forming on my lips.

"Nice to meet you as well. Glad someone can handle the company of Y/n." She winked and introduced new guests that came in. Despite eating earlier, I felt like a good snack and I looked back at the counter top. In the corner I saw a small container of cookies that someone brought. I grabbed one and ate it, turning to see Thor talking to some of the other men.

I walked out into the living room and saw more coworkers and some students I knew from grad school.

"So, Stacy told me about Thor. How did you get so lucky?" I giggled and drank some wine.

"Honestly, I question myself that everyday. So do you have any new years resolutions?" I look at Gwen and sat down on the arm rest of the couch.

"Eating healthier but I know that won't last very long." She moved some hair behind her ear and looked down.

"That might be hard, there is so much wonderful food here. I brought my bacon wrapped chestnuts as an appetizer." I grabbed her hand and pulled her to the kitchen. "I hate to do this but might as well make the last day of the year worth it. we can pig out together." She laughed and I grabbed a bacon wrapped chestnut myself.  I ate it and savored the taste on my tongue. 

I grabbed my phone when everything zoomed out. My body feeling like I was floating on water. Every color around me intensifying into such beauty.

I looked around and I saw Gwen staring at me. "Are you okay Y/n? You seem out of it." She asked but I felt so much movement in my body to pay attention.

"Hm? Oh um, yeah I am fine." I looked around and saw some people looking at me.

They know. Something's not right here. Why am I thinking so loud?

I walked to the dining room and found Thor. I grabbed his arm as I felt a few muscles spasm and twitching.

Oh God, I am gonna die aren't I? This isn't normal. What even is normal!?

I pulled Thor to the bathroom and sat on the toilet.

"Everything alright Darling? Your pupils are huge." He looked at me and knelt in front of me.

"I'm twitching everywhere, why is this happening?" I watched him look at my arms and legs.

"You aren't twitching, you are sitting perfectly still. What's going on?" He brought a hand up to my face and I looked in his eyes. His eyes enlarging to almost anime size. The beautiful pools of blue moving in waves. I stood up and looked in the mirror at myself. The skin on my face looked like it was made of styrofoam. I shook my head and looked back at Thor who was even more confused.

Who am I? People keep calling me Y/n but what if that's not really me. Y/n. Y/n. Such a weird name.

What even is English, language doesn't even make sense. We just put these words together and somehow it makes sense?

"Y/n!" Thor yelled and I snapped out of it. "What is happening, you aren't responding?" He had grabbed my shoulders and shook me slightly.

"This space is too small, I want to go outside." I teared up and hugged him. He wrapped his arms around me and maneuvered me til I was in his arms and took me outside. People murmured and I hid my face in his chest.

How embarrassing....

"Look, we are outside now." He used a soft voice and I looked up at the sky seeing the stars and fireworks across the horizon. I sat down on the ground and watched the wavy lights.

"I have never seen so much beauty in my life, everything is so alive." I murmured to myself. Thor paced bad and forth trying to figure out what was going on. "Can't you feel it?" I looked up at him.

"Something isn't right, I am going to call Tony so we can figure this out." He grabbed my phone from my pocket and called Tony.

"Thor, come here. Look, this is reality, enjoy this feeling." I pulled his hand and tried to get him to sit with me but he was too strong.

I turned to see Stacy coming outside. I smiled at her and kept touching the grass around me.

"Hey, Y/n? Did you eat the cookies in the blue tin?" she knelt by me and Thor eyed her curiously.

"Just one, why?" I looked back at the ground and felt the blades of grass tickling my hands. "Each blade of grass is like a small hand grabbing my fingers." I giggled and looked up at her.

"Jason brought the wrong cookies and you are tripping. That explains why you said whatever that was." She handed me a water bottle and I shook my head.

"What do you mean by tripping? She is sitting down." Thor asked Stacy while holding the phone to his ear.

"She is hallucinating, everything is a lot more intense for her right now than usual." Stacy turned to face me. She lightly grabbed my chin and flashed a light into my eyes showing the very much blown pupils. I smiled and giggle to myself.

"The light is amazing, can't you see it? All the waves moving fluidly from the flashlight." I grabbed the flashlight and stared at the small lines of light moving rapidly from it. I could hear Stacy talk to Thor but the works didn't make sense. They had to be speaking an alien language of some kind because it just wasn't processing. I stared back up at the swirly stars and tried to think by myself.

I felt arms wrap around me and looked up to see Thor. His hair moving in the wind as well as distorting in my eyes.

I touched it, immediately feeling the individual strands move in between my fingers. He laid me down in the backseat of the car when we heard people counting down from 10. I shifted quickly and pulled Thor's arm and he stared worried I was hurt. I pull him close and kiss him, feeling his soft lips against mine.

"Happy New Year." I whispered and stared at the roof of the car. Small formations of eyeballs clouded around me and I covered my eyes. Soft music started playing and I hummed along. Feeling waves of energy flowing throughout my body with every beat. Before I knew it, Thor was removing me from the car. I slowly came down from the high but smiled at him. Rubbing my face into his neck.

"I love you."
