The next morning they ate the rest of the food they had leftover from yesterday and then headed to Laketown.
It was an average sized town. It wasn't as large as Anviltide or Lunai but it was decent.
"Do you remember where it was?" Asked Russ
"Um... I think so" Answered Cry
"Oh come on, you don't even remember?" Cheyenne retorted.
"It's been a while!" Argued Cry.
After walking around town they found Spoon's workplace. It was a large wooden building and through the front windows you can see rows of bookcases lined with books and scrolls. Jund wondered what this man did for a living. There was no mention of him being a librarian of some kind, or a magician.
Before Jund could ponder any more Cry knocked on the door and a few seconds later came out Spoon. He had poofy dark brown hair and a beard covering his face.
"Cry? Russ? Cheyenne? What are you guys doing here?" Asked Spoon, very happily.
"Hey buddy!" Greeted Cry
"Hey, Spoon." Greeted Russ
Cheyenne gave a small wave as her greeting.
"Well... We need your help with something. I can explain that for you inside, but I'd like you to meet our new friends Snake and Jund."
The two walked around Cry and shook hands with Spoon. But then he noticed that the two of them were elves. So he started speaking elvish.
"Ihn... Di twael rin älfa. (Ah, you two are elves) Jearil rè brising di. (Pleased to meet you)."
"Yäir kileaôn dal-älfa. (I'm actually half-Elf.)." Said Snake.
"Di spiel älfakon? (You speak Elvish?)" asked Jund
"Rikrn vas, Ywïr pilasntíl paer bochä. (Why yes, I do translations for books.)" Answered Spoon.
"Qwuin rè brising di (Nice to meet you.)" Greeted Snake.
Cry, Russ and Cheyenne stood there in confusion.
"What are they saying?" Whispered Cry to the other two non-elvish speakers.
"They're speaking in Elvish, you idiot." Said Cheyenne.
"Oh... That makes sense."
Once they were done conversing in Elvish Spoon said they could all go inside. The place was nice. There were 4 bookshelves stocked with books and scrolls. There was a writing desk that had lots of scattered papers and writings on it, but there was something unusual in his house. He had a miniature horse. Right inside his house.
"Uh... Why do you have a horse in here?" Asked Jund.
"Oh, she's my pet. Her name is huehue." Spoon said.
"Huehue? What kind of name is that?"
"A good one," Spoon replied jokingly.
"I don't own a stable and it costs way too much to keep her in the town stables so I keep her in here, besides she is tiny enough to fit in here."
"I'm sorry to interrupt your horse conversation here," said Cheyenne "but we need your help, Spoon."
"Oh yes, I'm sorry. Say what you need help with."
Cry spoke for Cheyenne "We need help finding the Night Stone. We found this book, but the cave it talked about didn't have the stone in it. Do you have any clues where it is, dude?"Spoon pondered for a second.
"Now that you mentioned it... I remember something like that I had to translate for somebody from elvish to common..."
"Do you remember what it said?" Asked Cry
"No, I forget most of what I translate since I do it a lot. But I remember the old lady I gave the translated copy to said she was going to give it to her husband or something in Anviltide."
"Who is this lady's husband?" Asked Snake.
"I wasn't given a name. I was only told that he was a librarian of some sort."The room was quiet for a second. Cry took a quick glance at Russ and saw a worried expression on his face.
"Something wrong?" Asked Cry.
"It's just that...." Russ' voice trailed off for a second, like he was hesitant to say something. "I... know we're going to have to go to Anviltide to look for that book, but... I can't go."
"Why?" Asked Cry
"Well... Remember what I told you a while ago. About a certain someone placing a bounty over my head..."
Cry suddenly remembered again, but before he could say something Cheyenne interjected.
"Also, remember the man at the cave who worked for the Dark Prince. I wouldn't be surprised if he had told the Dark Prince himself that we were looking for the stone."
"Ah, your right." Replied Russ.
"He doesn't know what we look like." Jund said.
"It would be wise to send Jund and Snake in." Said Russ "Anviltide has a large presence of the Dark Prince's soldiers, so if they were to spot any of us three we would be dead on the spot."
"He's right. I've seen what they have done to people here..." Said Spoon.
"So... Let's have Snake and Jund go search for us." Suggested Cry
"Alright. We'll head off tomorrow then to Anviltide." Said Cheyenne."Thanks for the help, buddy." Said Cry sincerely
"Well, that's just what friends do," replied Spoon "Good luck on your adventure you guys."
"Thank you." Said Russ
"We should get going now." Said Jund
"Bye!" Said Cry
"Seeya, bud!" Said Russ
"Take care." Said Snake
"If you ever need help you can always count on me, goodbye." Said Spoon.
And then they were off to Anviltide.
