When you feel my heat
Look into my eyesLong, ragged and heavy breaths escaped a pair of peach lips as large green eyes focused intensely on the floor below, darting about frantically. A small hand reached up, running through a tousled mop of chocolate tresses in attempt to soothe the distraught boy who couldn't seem to control his raging heart. He glanced up as he inhaled sharply in effort to calm his frenzied breathing, meeting a pair of bright soothing eyes. Her eyes told all the words she wasn't sure how to say as she laced her fingers with his.
How was a single person able to assuage his constant temper and flaring emotions so perfectly? She always knew exactly what to do in order to bring him back from his dark, nightmarish prison of self-blame and guilt. It was his miracle from whatever all-powerful being there was, the one thing that made his heart ache with so many conflicting emotions he wanted nothing but to express how much she meant to him. And yet, he felt so selfish for taking advantage of her caring ways. To cause worry to flit through her bright eyes when he concealed his emotions. He felt greedy for having her care for him constantly, having to be a burden on her.
"I'm fine," he murmured softly, pulling away from her warm touch. "I just needed a moment," he added, the fire in his heart sizzling as it subdued from it's raging blaze.
She was silent for a moment gazing at his form with a firm observant stare. He hated how she could read him so easily, although his body language wasn't too hard to understand. Due to the brightness in his eyes, the way his fists clenched enough for his nails to dig into his skin, how his chest heaved with difficult breaths, it was quite obvious to tell that the boy was strongly angered. But at what was a larger issue.

It's where my demons hide"It's not your fault," she said softly, palm brushing over his.
His eyes flared with his fiery temper as he shot her an incredulous look. "How is it not my fault? If I had changed earlier all four of them would still be alive. I made a stupid decision, and because of it I now have to go to trial, and some of the only people who believed in me died for my sake!"
"That was their decision, not yours."
"They were obligated to save me! I am the sick monster that everyone says I am. I'm a demon that inflicts terror onto others, when all I want to do is just help! All I've ever wanted to do was help, and no one is giving me the chance to do so."
Her eyes narrowed towards him as she defiantly crossed her arms over her chest. "Eren, you are not a demon. I don't care what anyone says, there is good in you. And even if everyone is against it, I will always believe that there is good in you."
"Why?"
The question seemed to shock her, eyes widening with astonishment. He didn't understand why she didn't see it coming, he wanted to know himself why she cared so much when he had only been a burden to her. Why did she help him so much, and not someone else? Why did she spend her time on caring for and soothing his hot temper when he was just a demon?
Her lashes fluttered as she glanced away nervously. "I can't help but care for the ones I love."
Don't get to close
It's dark insideHe was quiet as he processed her words, allowing them to meld and churn in his mind. Seeing her bright eyes flick up to his, he shook his head with great reluctance. "You can't love me, you can't," he said softly, almost convincing himself more than her.
"Why not?" she hissed back.
"Because you're the sunshine and I'm the shadow," he blurted out. At her expectant gaze, he slowly continued. "I'm dangerous, I'm a monster, a demon, a shadow. You're the brilliant light and you illuminate everything in your path. You can brighten up someone's day with just a few words, and all I have to do to darken it is show up in a room. You can't get too close, I can't let you."
"I have no choice," she muttered. "You aren't a demon to me, and I thought that would mean something to you. Even if everyone is against you, I'll be there," she said softly.
Her eyes stared down at the floor with what looked like shame. Suddenly feeling guilty for neglecting her feelings, he took a step forward and wrapped his arms about her waist, burying his face into her soft hair. "I thought I was taking advantage of how... kind you were to me."
"I wouldn't have bothered to be if I didn't care about you," she murmured softly, pressing herself against his chest.
He pulled away, gently placing his lips against her forehead. "I'm sorry," he murmured against her skin. "I don't want to loose you. I just want to keep you safe," he whispered. "Please stay and keep me sane," he added with a small smile. An airy laugh left her lips as she nodded in agreement. He pecked the tip of her nose before holding her close to him once again.
