She inhaled, waking up along with the morning sun shining through her window. Stretching her hands to the ceiling, almost touching it, she finally exhaled. With the flutter of her eyes, she gained a horrible head pain. The girl put her hand to the temple of her head, groaning in pain. 'What happened last night?' she thought to herself, trying to recall what occurred the night before.
"Bar...drinks..drunk? How drunk did I get?" She mumbled to herself, listing off the things she could remember from last night, while taking in any clues she had lying around her apartment. Looking down at the small apartment from her lofted bed, she saw clothes scattered around her light wooden floor. A mixture of her clothes, and another person's sweater and jeans. She saw the bathroom light on. The person is here! She lied back down nervously, trying to pretend to be asleep to avoid the shame she was about to feel.
The toilet flushed and she could hear the sink running. The anticipation grew stronger and she shut her eyes as she saw the door open. Now she was desperately waiting for the person to leave. However, they didn't leave. She heard the clinking of cups over in the small kitchen area she had. The girl decided to open her eyes, which were met with dirty blonde hair and a sports bra, along with basketball shorts. The stranger was setting up the coffee pot and making coffee now, which started filling up the apartment with its aroma. The girl contemplated on what to do to get the other's attention without being weird or scaring her. This was definitely the most eventful morning the girl had in years. Coughing was the answer to the problem of getting the others attention. She had so many questions that were waiting to be answered. The girl coughed a little bit, just loud enough for the other girl to turn her head. Her green eyes were the first noticeable thing about her that she could even see without her glasses.
"I-I'm sorry" The girl stuttered.
"For what? There is nothing to be sorry about." The blonde smirked at her. "FYI, I slept on the couch" she said, gesturing to the couch that had a small blanket on it. "You were wasted last night, and there was a guy all over you- an older man" She nodded her head disapprovingly. "I wanted to make sure you were safe, so I looked at your drivers licence and took you home, Juliet" She smiled teasingly, emphasizing the name 'Juliet'.
Juliet started getting out of bed, on the search for medication for her headache.
"Well, double sorry for being such a burden. And thank you for saving me" She knew that this stranger was a nice person, but she got a horrible feeling in her stomach from the thought of almost being taken advantage of last night. "Really, thank you" Juliet finally got down from the ladder onto her feet. She was changed into sweatpants and a t-shirt. She was embarrassed at the thought of someone else- this girl changing her wasted self. She looked down, embarrassed but thankful she didn't have to sleep in her own puke.
"It wasn't any problem for a pretty girl like you" the blonde teased, turning back around to tend to the coffee that was being made.
"What is your name?" Juliet asked, opening the cupboard that contained the ibuprofen.
"Wow, taking an interest in me now?" The girl responded, wiggling her eyebrows. Juliet punched the other girl playfully in the arm, laughing. "The name's Voni." she finally said.
Juliet nodded, getting her glasses from off the counter and putting them on.
"Can I get your number, or snapchat, or anything?" Juliet asked nervously. She was already planning on taking Voni out to eat to thank her.
"Oh yeah sure" Voni smirked, probably holding back a flirty comment. "206-880-0909" she said, pouring a cup of coffee for Juliet, who was writing the numbers on a piece of paper because her phone had disappeared.
Juliet grabbed the mug full of coffee with two hands, feeling the heat on her fingers.
"Thanks" she said, going straight for the creamer in the fridge.
"No problem" Voni was pouring a cup for herself.
An alarm went off from a phone in the distance, which was coming from the bathroom.
"Oh no!" Juliet gasped, putting the mug down and running for the phone that was on the bottom of the shower. Nope. No questioning the placement of the phone. "I have work today! I've gotta go!" She started frantically getting ready, putting on professional clothes and grabbing a white coat from her closet.
"A doctor?" Voni said.
"Lab technician. Not quite" Juliet was frantic, fixing up her hair and wrapping it in a low bun.
"You're leaving so soon" Voni almost sounded sad.
"I'm sorry, I'll call you, okay? Just leave the door closed when you leave. Thaaankss!" Juliet darted out of the door like a flash.
