Heather's POV
Evelyn and Jonathan are nuzzled up to a campfire. Evelyn wrapped up in a blanket. "What do you supposed killed him?" Evelyn asks us.
"Did you ever see him eat?" Jonathan asks us.
"He ate like a pig" I state wrinkling my nose. "Never saw him drink though" I add. Rick rejoins us with some more fire wood. "How are the Americans?" I ask him.
"Seems the Americans had a little misadventure of their own today, three of their diggers were killed" he tells us.
"How?" I ask with Evelyn.
"Salt acid, pressurized salt acid. Some sort of ancient bobby trap" he explains.
"Makes sense, pharaohs are suppose to be buried here. No surprise there'd be bobby traps" I state.
"Maybe this place is really cursed" Jonathan tells us. A gust of wind blows through the camp. Rick and Jonathan share a nervous look.
"You two" Evelyn scolds.
"You don't believe in curses?" Rick and I ask her.
"No. I believe if I can see it and I can touch it, then it's real. That's what I believe" she tells us.
"I believe in being prepared" Rick tells her. Jonathan opens the Warden's and sticks his hand inside. Jonathan yelps in pain and rips his hand back out of the bag. Making the rest of us jump.
"What is it?" we ask him.
"A broken bottle. Glenlivet, twelve years old! Well, he may have been a stinky fellow, but he had good taste" he explains taking out the bottle. I roll my eyes. He takes a swig and the rest of us laugh.
"Anything else?" I ask him.
"Just sand" he says tipping it upside down and sand falls out. Rick suddenly kneels down and sticks his ear to the sand. Just then we hear shouts and gun shots from the Americans campsite.
Rick jumps up and throws the elephant gun to Evelyn. And me a shot gun. "Stay here!" he orders and runs to go fight.
"F!ck that" I say and run after him with the gun. I find him with Beni. Who had tried to hide.
"Goin' somewhere?" Rick asks him.
"Just looking for you, O'Connell! I wanted to be with my friend" he lies. Rick drags him back towards the American camp. "Why do you like to fight so much?" he asks him.
"Cause I look good doing it" Rick tells him. "I thought I told you to stay" he says to me.
"Not a dog Rick, I'm with you till the end of the line" I tell him. He smiles and nods his head. "Rick, nine o'clock" I say pointing to the man on a horse cutting people down with his sword.
Rick runs up on top of some rocks, leaps and tackles him off his horse. I grab rocks tossing them at other riders. As I don't want to kill anyone. Suddenly I'm grabbed from behind and my mouth is covered. I scream and try to break free.
Suddenly the man Rick was fighting yelled something and everyone stopped fighting. But I'm not released. I notice Rick holding a stick of lit dynamite. "We shall shade no more blood tonight, but leave this place or die. You have one day" he tells us. He mounts his head and rides away.
I'm pulled onto a horse, my mouth still covered. The other riders surround us to block us from view as we leave the camp. I try to break free, but the man's grip is to strong. We arrive at another camp over the dunes. I'm released and jump off the horse.
"Do not fear" a man says and I turn to see the man Rick had been fighting. "None here shall harm you, we have much to discuss" he tells me. "Please come" he says holding a hand out to me. I take is hesitantly and he leads me to a tent. "Hungry, thirsty?" he asks me.
"Water would be nice" I tell him. He nods and pours me some water. "Why am I here?" I ask him.
"Do you believe in prophecies?" he asks me.
"I'm open minded" I tell him.
"There is a prophecy of the last High Priestess of Isis" he tells me as he sits down. "That one day she'd be reincarnated and that one day she'd return to Hamunaptra. When she did, she would help protect the world from the evil that rests there" he explains.
"What does this have to do with me?" I ask him confused.
"You are her reincarnation, we have feared the day of your return. But now we need your help more then ever to ensure we don't fail out mission. If we do, only you can fix it" he tells me.
"I think you have the wrong girl, I'm just an ordinary girl" I tell him. "Can I return to the others, Rick will be worried" I tell him and he frowns.
"Who is Rick to you?" he asks me.
"Not that it's any of your business, but he is my brother" I tell him.
"If that is your wish, we will return you tomorrow. Hopefully they will be packed and ready to leave" he tells me. "You may use my tent, no one will disturb you here" he add gesturing to the tent we're in.
"What about you?" I ask him confused.
"I must speak with the warriors and I am on guard tonight. Sleep, restore your strength" he tells me. Before leaving. I sigh removing my shoes and lay on the nest of blankets. Laying my head on the pillow, I fall asleep.
