"Elodie, I implore you to reconsider," Remus begged as he and I made our way down the streets of Diagon Alley, but I ignored him and continued looking over my school supply list. "Elodie!"

"What?" I mumbled with annoyance.

"Are you listening to a word I'm saying?"

"Yes, but I'm choosing to ignore you," I smirked. "I've still got to get my uniform." I quickly looked around and my eyes landed on an alleyway. "Let's go through here so I can change." Before I could move, Remus placed a death grip on my shoulder and made me look at him.

"Will you stop?"

"Let go of me, Remus," I grumbled.

"What would Sirius think?" I yanked my arm out of his grip and glared up at him.

"How dare you."

"Elodie—" I gripped Remus tight by his shirt and dragged him down the alley out of sight.

"Sirius would be proud that I'm keeping him safe!" I hissed. "He knows just as well as I do that with Dumbledore gone, Lilly and James' boy doesn't stand a chance! The entire Order knows this!"

"Yes, I understand, but—"

"Do you, Remus? Because if you really did, you wouldn't be trying to stop me."

"I'm just scared for you. No one has ever done what you're about to do."

"Don't be. My cousin may be in Azkaban for a crime he didn't commit, but that doesn't mean I'm going to 'follow in the Black footsteps'. I've got clearance, Remus. I'm the best Auror of my age, trained by one of the best Aurors the Ministry has ever seen!"

"Ahem." Alastor cleared his throat from a few feet away; he was trying his best to disguise himself with a bowler hat, but failing miserably.

"Oh, sod off, you can't always be best at everything." Alastor chuckled under his breath and I turned back to Remus. "I can do this, Remus. Alastor has faith in me, Dumbledore has faith in me, Fudge has faith in me...why can't you?" Remus fell silent for a moment before placing both his hands on my shoulders and giving me a faint smile.

"I have all the faith in the world." Remus smiled. "I just worry about the Order, is all. We're slowly dwindling. We have to stay alive if we're to help Harry in the future."

"And we will," I reassured. "However, we can't do that if Dumbledore is dead, now can we? I'm not going to put Dumbledore in danger just so I can save my own neck. When Harry is at school, he will be safe, but only if Dumbledore is alive. This is the only way."

"Okay." Remus sighed. "I'm sorry."

"You care for him," I nodded. "We all do. Lilly and James...we swore to protect Harry if anything happened to them...this is how I'm doing my part."

"And what if you fail? What if this death eater gets the best of you? Your father almost did."

"That was a cheap shot—"

"That almost caused him to get away."

"But he didn't. I came out on top and we all know what kind of student he was growing up, he boasts about it all the time."

"Yes, but—"

"I can do this, Remus...I'm going, and that's the end of it. Now, you can either support me or you can just go because I don't wanna hear another negative word out of your mouth." Remus let out a sigh but nodded. "Good, now, if you'll excuse me." I closed my eyes tight and concentrated as hard as I could. I could feel my clothes getting baggier by the second, my skin tingling as it shrunk, my bones ache as they grew shorter. When I opened my eyes, Remus and Alastor were towering over me. "How do I look?"
