I walked around Evette's apartment looking for my cell phone, nearly tripping over the pile of shoes she had in the corner. I was getting use to August's big, spacious house but now I was in with Evette in her cramped apartment for nearly two weeks now.
He didn't call me or text me and neither did I to him. So I guess it was officially over. I wasn't happy about it but I already had my mind set on moving on. I wasn't gonna let him mistreat me and call me out of my name.
"Evie! Where's my cell phone?" I asked, still looking.
"I have it here! Come get it!" She called out from her bedroom. I rolled my walking to her bedroom.
"What did I tell you about taking my phone with asking me?" I asked, taking it from her.
She laughed. "My bad, babe, my phone died but guess what?"
"What?"
"I answered your phone while you were in the shower and it was Trey!"
I shook my head, sitting next to her on the bed. "What'd he want?"
"He wanted to invite us to the video release party," She smiled widely.
"Oh no, Evie, I really don't feel like going. We can stay home and watch a movie tonight again."
"Ugh, Kay, no. We always do that. You're depressed ass need to get out and forget all about that nigga and his hoe and have fun."
"I know...just not now," I sighed, watching her fix her hair in the mirror.
"Oh, well, I already told Trey to RSVP us," She said, shrugging.
"Evie!" I whined.
"Don't 'Evie' me, I'm trying to help you out as the good best friend I am. So let's go get our hair and nails done so that we could get us a new man tonight."
She dragged me off her bed and out the door toward my car. I silently obeyed, considering the idea of having fun. I really did need to get August off my mind.
We decided to go to Chandra's salon to get our hair done since I was promising her the longest that I was gonna come over. As soon as I stepped inside, she hugged me tight to the point where I nearly choked.
"Oh my god, Kay, I was so worried about you," She said, nearly suffocating me. "Where you been, girl?"
"I'm fine, Cha," I half smiled, pulling away from her death hug. "And I'm staying with my best friend. Evette this is my beautiful big sis Chandra and Chandra this is my crazy best friend, Evette."
They shared a brief hug before Chandra bursted into laughter.
"So you the crazy one that beat Lola's ass?" She asked. Evette nodded, laughing.
"That'd be me," She said, raising her hand innocently. "I'm sorry if that's your girl or whatever but shawty had to get popped."
"Oh no, don't apologize," Chandra fanned her off. "I'm just glad somebody did it."
"I like you already," Evette giggled. "But anyways, girl, you need to hook us up because you looking gorgeous."
"Thanks," Chandra smiled, flipping her hair over her shoulder. "Come on lemme wash y'all up first."
Evette went first and I took a seat on her hair, flipping through Instagram.
"What's the occasion?" Chandra asked, starting to wash Evette's hair.
"Trey invited us to the video release party tonight and we just tryna look cute," I said, seeing a pic of August and Lola on my newsfeed. I rolled my eyes, scrolling past it quickly.
