Hayes Grier Likes Me

Chapter 1

SUMMER'S POV

I have been living in Australia all my life. I have been best friends with the Griers ever since we were born. Hayes is my age, Nash is my brothers age so they are best friends, their mum is also friends with my Mum. Ours Mum's went to school together but then my Mum moved to Australia and met my Dad. 

I still keep in touch with Hayes, but because the time is different it's kind  of hard. I haven't seen them in ages because we used all of our money last time we went over there and we just didn't have the time to save up again because I'm at school and we have to buy food and clothes. 

Me and Hayes have a lot in common. I love rugby and last year when we went over there, we were playing and he had the ball so I tackled him to the ground and I may of broken his arm. I felt bad at the time but when we were little they came over here and we were playing on a playground and he pushed me off the slide and I broke my leg. I eventually forgave him, but we were like 4 so it doesn't really and we have forgot about it. 

Lately I have had an obsession with youtube and I have watched Nash's videos almost 3 times because they are so funny. I haven't seen Skylynn in a while and I really miss her because she is just so sassy and her video with Nash is amazing, I am in love with it.

The last few weeks my Mum has been acting really weird and not telling me things so I keep trying to get things out of her but its isn't working. So I decided to text Hayes, at a time when he would be awake. The text said "hey, my Mum is acting really weird. Does your Mum seem a bit weird to you? I think something is up and I'm going to find out what it is. If you want, can you try and squeeze something out of your Mum soon? Miss you.". Hayes replied straight away and his text said "yeah shes acting rly weird. sure i'll help, let's do this". This was going to be exciting.

I went out to the kitchen to find Mum on the phone. It looked like she was hiding from me so I wouldn't know what she was saying, or who she was saying it to. My Mum always thinks that she can out smart me but she can't, I can't believe she thought that I couldn't find a way to get onto what she was doing. We have two phones in the house, one in the kitchen (that's the one Mum's on) and another one which is upstairs on a table neext to bed room. I'm walking up the stairs  like I'm the one hiding something and trying to to make a sound, but my Brother James is going down the stairs as I'm going up and when I reach for the phone he says
"making secret phone calls to Hayes are Summer?"

"NO! Go away you jerk" I say back. Luckily he doesn't take it to offense and keeps walking down the stairs. 

I don't want to intrude on Mums conversation with the other person on the phone so I get out my phone and video what is being said. When the time is right I will listen to the video and hear who she is talking to and what they are saying. I know this may be a bit rude, but my Mum might be in trouble and I could help her, I just have to know what's happening.

I told Hayes about what I did with Mum and videoing her conversation on the phone. He said that he couldn't get anything out of her, whcih sucks because I hate it when my Mum keeps things from me, it feels like she doesn't trust me and she should I am her daughter. 

Now that I think of it Hayes has been acting weird too. Thinggs are pretty weird with us, but never this weird, I need to get to the bottom of this and fast because if Elizabeth (Hayes Mum), my mum and Hayes are all keeping something from me then this something must be pretty big. 

James didn't seemm to know anything either. I was thinking about getting him in on finding sttuff out  as well. And I did just that and James' answer was not what i was expecting. 

"Hey James, have you noticed that Mum is acting really strange lately?"

"Yeah have you noticed it too? She is always hiding her phone and having private phone calls" 

I said " yeah do you to help me find out why?"

'Yes cos this is getting out of hand, Nash doesn't talk to me that much any more and when he does he has to go really soon." 

 "Okay well, we need to work together on this and not fight at all because then Mum will get angry at us and never tell us and that would suck. 

"Agreed"

That day me and James were in the rumpus room sorting things out on the whiteboard that one of our Aunties gave us when we in Primary School. I was the one writing all the information because he sucks at writing and no one would be able to understand it, but he is good at coming up with the planes. So what we got was, treasure Mum with gifts and be nice everyone, so we might be able to get it out of her.

Over the last few days we have noticed some strange things happeningg with Mum, she seems to be using all of our money on things we don't need. To add to the weirdness she was now on the phone every day talking to who me and James think is the same perosn, or spreading the news around to our friends and family but not us, her closest family.
