Miu's Backstory (short story)

All I see is black, I am new to the world, so innocent and unaware... Of what events are to come. But for now, all I see is black, dark, night, I cry. A voice comforts me, "shhh shhh shhh, it's okay little one." This is the voice of my mother. I was just born a few weeks ago, but cats, or even hybrids like me, grow faster than normal humans.

I look out and see the sun, I'm so happy I want to play in the grass, everything is so fascinating in this world! I run out as fast as I can towards the field, but I'm caught by my chain tugging hard at my neck, I really should know better by now. I sit down on the grass and my mother comes out to see me calmly. She smiles, "you are such a hyper one, Miu." I giggle and bite at her ear playfully, "yes mom, but how can I not be? The world is so fun!" She looks down at me, she looks sad. "What's wrong Mama?" I look at her concernedly as I ask. She smiles at me "nothing is wrong, I'm just happy that you find the world so fun and I hope that you can stay so happy all of your life" Mama says this and a tear rolls down her cheek, I don't know why, so I lick it. "I will Mama! I promise you that no matter what happens, I will always be happy and playful! Dose that help Mama?" Mama smiles an even happier smile and kisses my forehead "I would love that Dear." Happily, and with an uncontrollable burst of energy, I run toward the field again, and again I get caught by my leash, I look back at Mama and laugh.

A man, 'Master' he is called, walks out into the yard where me and Mama are, I run back to her fearfully, I don't like this man. Another man is with him, Master specks to him "the kitten would make a nice pet for your daughter, but mind you, she is playful and wild" I understand the words he speaks, but not the meaning of what he's saying, so I sit in my little house, looking at them cautiously. The other man speaks up "I don't know, what about the older one with her, is that her mother?" Master speaks back to him "yep, I don't know how much longer that one will hold on though, you should go with the kitten" I hear this, he is talking about my Mama, what did he say? Not hold on, to what? I look at Mama, she isn't holding anything. confused, I look back at the men.
"Hmmm, I'll take the both of them." Take who? What dose this new man mean? Could he be... referring to us? Master speaks again to the stranger "If that's what you like..." Master looks at us, I look away from his gaze, I don't like making eye contact with him.
The stranger speaks again, "yep, that's what I'll do, the kitten will be a pet for Sarah, and I bet my wife would like the older one, could help her with small tasks, she looks fine to me." Master looks back at him "you want them now than?" The stranger looks at us, he has a much nicer look in his eyes than Master dose "ya, it'll be a nice surprise for them." After the man says this, Master looks back at us, I feel a shiver go down my spine and my stomach hurts, than Master goes the the place where me and Mamas chains are tied and unties them, wrapping them around his hand, I don't get it, but now I'm pretty sure the stranger WAS talking about us to take.
I jerk as hard as I can against my leash, hoping to get free, it is futile however for it pulls hard against my neck, and I am only a two week old kitten hybrid and he is a fully grown man, and on top of that it pulls on my neck and only on his hand. Out of breath, I let go and fall to the ground, not passed out, just weak. "I ought to tranquilize them for you to take them home." Master says. I wonder what he means, I look over at Mama, she doesn't seem to wonder, she seems to know and be terrified of it. Helplessly, I plop back onto the ground. "Sure, but not to much, I can't have them passed out when I give them to the girls." Master walks over to a table, picks up a needle and walks over to Mama, than pokes her hand, she wines and than falls to the ground. Terrified, I run over to her, but master just catches me and pokes the needle into my hand too, it feels like the time I got a splinter in my hand, it stings, but not for long. I feels sleepy, than the world spins and looks strange, everything is black now...

I wake up in a cage. I look around to see if my Mama is with me, she is. She is still asleep but right next to me, I feel better that she's here, I nestle up to her. "Oh good, your awake." The man from before is driving the car we are in, and looking at us through the mirror. I don't know what to say, so I stay quiet. We drive for a while in silence, Mama is still asleep, but her heartbeat is comforting. After a while of driving Mama wakes up, she dosnt look to well. Than we arrive at the house of the man, a child about as big as me runs out to meet him. "Daddy! I'm so glad your home!" The girl says to him while jumping up into his arms "yes, and I brought you a new pet! You know how you were sayin you wanted one of those 'Neko' cat hybrids? Well I got you one, and she's in the car!" I know he's talking about me amd Mama. "On my gosh, really?! I love you daddy!" The girl screams as she runs over to the car, I don't know what to do, so I stay still.
