After what seemed like a forever-lasting fourth period, the bell finally rang.

I stuffed all my English papers and notes into my binder, closed it up, and hoped for the best.

Good luck to the me that has to come across that binder later.

On my way to my locker, my friend Lexi stopped me.

" Rosie! Can you please help me and take this textbook, I seriously can't carry all these books!"

"Yeah, sure," I replied.

" Thanks girl," Lexi said, struggling to pass me the textbook, meet me at my locker in a minute so we can walk together."

" I'll Be there," I told her.

She sashayed away, pink circle skirt flowing side to side.

I continued on to my locker. Suddenly, I heard a hard thing slam to the ground. It was Lexi's textbook dropping right out of my hands.

I crouched down the floor after pulling up my light wash skinny jeans from Hollister extra high, to make sure I didn't flash anyone. Not that it ever happened it's just that I would be mortified if it did.

When I got to the floor, I found that there was already someone there. I looked straight into his big brown eyes, and he looked right into mine.

I'm 99.9% sure the world stopped.

Walker Morgan.

I bet your wondering who Walker
Morgan is. He's captain of the football team and a high honor roll student.

That may be one of the best combinations of life.

Did I mention that he also belongs to Lexi? That part might be important.

They've been dating for two months, since a little bit later than Lexi and I became friends.

He reaches down to pick up the blue textbook and hands it to me.

"Thank you so much," I managed.

"Yeah no problem," he said as we started to get up.

Walker smiled at me, a real smile and I smile back.

It's nice to see that some people are still real these days.

I walked into the lunchroom with Lexi and looked around.

It all looks the same. The football team is taking up 3 tables in the back, some of the less popular people are sitting with their groups in little clumps, seventy year old lunch monitors are roaming around like they know stuff about teenagers, then I spot Sydney who's sitting all alone. She's eating her favorite sandwich, turkey and Swiss cheese with mayo. Then towards the front is where I sit with a few of my friends like Lexi, Mary, Kate, and Jaylene.

I was trying not to make eye contact, but out of the corner of my eye I could see Sydney staring at me and Lexi. Neither of us said hi.

I guess Lexi saw my expression because she started to act all cheerful. I played along and pretended she changed my mood. But once she began to act normal again with our friends she asked " What's wrong?".

I gave her a smile. "I'm fine."

Inside my heart felt like it was caught by an anchor trying to hook and drag. That feeling is not fun.
