Chapter 9: the ball and and the brawl and the kiss to rule them all

It had been a week since the party and the drunken text to Jesse, I just kept thinking to myself maybe he didn't read it, maybe he didn't care to read, maybe he did read it and just didn't care or maybe he did read it and does care but doesn't want to say anything. All these thoughts ran through my head until Ronnie knocked on the door to my office and said you have some business to handle, I looked at him and sighed and said when do I not have business to handle? He smiles a little and says true as he walked in and says you know tiny? I thought about it for a minute and said tiny the coke and pot dealer on 38th and rodchester? He nods as I say so what about him? He looks at me and throws papers down on my desk and says he's been taking our product and pocketing the money. I look at him and ask what? He nods and calls Vinny in and he sits down and looks at me and asks what do you need? I look at him and say one of my sellers is taking my product and pocketing the money I want you to buy from him so I can catch him in the act, he nods and says ok lets do it, I nod and say well lets go. I look at Ronnie and said get the car, he nods as me and Vinny walk out of my office and walk downstairs as Jesse comes up to me and says hey Riley do you have a minute? My heart sank to my toes as I looked at him and said um no I don't I got some business to take care of but maybe later ok? He looked at me kind of disappointed and said ok I smiled and walked out to the car and got in and sighed as Vinny looked at me and asked you ok? I looked at him and said I since a drunk text to Jesse the night of the party and now he wants to talk about it, he looks at me and asks are you gonna talk to him about it? I sigh and say I don't know Vinny I just gonna handle one problem at a time, he nods as we ride to where Tiny's turf is and parked about a block away from him as I looked at Vinny and say just ask him for enough to get you through the week if he puts it in his right pocket then he's giving it to us,

If he puts it in his left pocket then he's pocketing it. He nods and says ok I got it, he steps out and walks over to tiny and makes the deal as we the money goes into his left pocket I shook my head and said ok let's go, I make sure I have my gun and step out and walk upto him and say hi tiny as I smile he looks at me and asks do I know you? I look at him and say you should I'm the girls who's money your pocketing, his eyes widen in realization has he looks at me and says oh I'm so sorry I didn't mean to I was just needing so extra money for my family. I look at him and say shut up ok I know you don't have a family so don't pull that guilt Trip shit with me ok? I know your pocketing the money for yourself. I look at him and say now this is your first and last warning, i get into his face and say if you ever pocket my money again I well hunt you down like a dog and cover you in chicken guts and hang you over a lake of alligators by your toes got it? You could see the fear in his eyes as he says yes ma'am I smile and say now give me my money I held my hand out as he puts the money in my hand as I say thank you now have a nice day, I smile and walk back to my car as vinny followed and said damn Riley that was harsh I got into the car and looked at him and said just because my dad isn't here anymore and just because I'm a girl doesn't mean people can walk all over me.

He nods as the car starts Ronnie looks at me and says don't forget you have that ball thing tonight for the mayor, i sigh and say shit i forgot i haven't even gotten a dress or a date, i lean my head back and think as ronnie tells the driver to take us home as i say i have a dress in mind, he looks at me and say remember it has to be nice i look at him and smile and say don't worry its amazing, i smile as we get home and i walk down stairs as i see my brother and his girlfriend getting ready themselves as i walk down the hallway to the door marked the dress room and as i walk in and go through all the dresses and finally find my dress it's long and red with a slit up the leg and all sparkly. As I take it upstairs as my hair stylist shows up does my hair as i say now all i need is a date i sigh as i look at my dress and ask jesse to come in and asks whats up? i look at him and said i'm guessing you read the text message? he nods as i said well it wasn't because i was drunk i still feel that way Jesse and if you do then you'll say yes to what i have to say he nods as i look at him and ask would you go to the mayors ball with me? he smiles and nods and says yeah i'll go with you, i smile and say thank you and say now get out so i can get on my dress he smiles and walks out as i get my dress and slip it on and pick up my black high heels and put them on and open my door as I walk downstairs as I see everyone stop in their tracks and look at me as Jesse's mouth drops to the ground and says wow Riley you look amazingly beautiful, i blush a little as I look down a little and say thank you Jesse as he takes my hand and leads me to the limo my brother whispers in my ear and says Brantley and Amber are coming,
