How long had it been since (y/n) was Matthew Williams best friend? Or how long was it when they first started dating? Or when he became famous?

All of these questions had ran through the (h/c)'s mind when she watched her best friend, her lover, on the stage performing to his hearts content out to thousands of his fans.

Sure, the fangirls got a bit out of hand but she had to give it to them, they could write one hell of a fan fiction with him. Not that she read them of course.. Okay, maybe a few... hundred of them. They were great writers, what could she say?

It all happened the same at every concert, he'd play his top 10 hits, go back stage, meet with the fans with you by his side and got many pictures taken.

To think, the shy and used to be invisible Canada, Matthew Williams, was now the top artists known. It was all because of (y/n).

Everyone knew that he wouldn't have gotten to where he was without her. She was the inspiration he needed when he wasn't getting anything, the friend he needed when he was down, and the lover he needed when he was through with stressful business. Where would he be without the beautiful (y/n) (l/n).

He could remember what had gotten him motivated to become what he is now like it were yesterday.

-Flashback-

"Come on Canada! I promise you can do whatever you want if you put your mind to it. Hell, you could become stronger than Russia if you wanted to! You just need to try, stop giving up when things don't go right. Yes, you are shy, yes some people don't see you 99.9 percent of the time, but here I am trying to get you motivated and stop moping around the house. I swear, you're gonna be the death of me one day." Spoke the (h/c), sighing as she finished her little rant and sat next to her boyfriend of  three years.

"B-but (y/n).. No one cares for any opinions of mine. Russia sits on me during the meetings half the time, and i'm practically forgotten.. What's the use in trying if I know i'm going to fail? It makes no sense wasting the time.." he spoke softly, gripping her hand into his.

"Matthew Williams.. Do you know how many times i've tried something, failed and almost gave up but didn't? Because I know in the end, it will all be worth it in the end. Albert Einstein didn't get everything on the first try, it probably took him years to get noticed as basically the smartest man alive. George Washington, he didn't just walk up in front of everyone and be like, 'Hey guys! I'm going to lead you to do somethings but I don't know what but you're going to follow me anyway because I said so.' No, he worked for it, got people on his side and it was the peoples' choice to ake him the first president. Just because you think no one cares, no one takes notice, you always think about the negative. What about the positive things in life? France raised you like his own, he never once gave up on you when you were just a chibi. America, yeah he's weird, and obnoxious, but he still treats you like a brother right? Has he ever just completely blown you off to do something else? I'm pretty sure you have once, because he is so loud, but Matt... If you don't get out there and show them how well prepared you can be, and that you are another country in this world. how are you going to earn any respect for your country? Economy? What about your people Matt? What will they think if they found out you gave up on them because no one hears your opinions.. Raise your voice during the meetings, show them who you truly are." She finished, taking small breaths after her speech.

Thinking about everything she had said, she was right. Everytime he would talk it would be too quiet to hear anything over Germany yelling or even America. If he was going to get anywhere, he had to step up his game.

Smiling at her, he lifted her chin up, pressing his lips against hers softly. Molding together like perfect pieces to a puzzle.

"Thank you, (y/n). You're the best girlfriend a guy could ever ask for."

"Anytime Matthew. Just remember what I said, take it to heart, and do your absolute hardest at the next meeting."

-timeskip to after the meeting-

(y/n) was right. All Matthew had to do was just try and he would be heard, seen, and remembered.

All it took was a bit of encouragement from her and a strong will to pursue his second dream of being noticed.  During the meeting it was talking about the trades and economy. Canada had taken a stand to get his country somewhere, discussing his economy and trading issues on some parts but twisting peoples arms to get some trades his people needed. All he had to do was speak up loud enough for them to hear.

-End flashback-

"What are you day dreaming about over there Mr. Fancy pants?" Asked (y/n), snapping Canada back to reality.

"Hmm? Oh, just the day when you gave me that three minute speech that got me motivated for the meeting is all."

"Oh? Why? It wasn't that great. Besides, you just had to stop moping around the house." She giggled, poking his cheek as she laid across his lap on one of the couches back on the tour bus.

Smiling, Canada replied softly, "It may have not been great to you, but look where it got me, got us. Had it not been for your speech for getting people to notice me during those meetings, I would have never thought about trying to get the entire world to notice me. Hence me becoming what I am now."

"I never thought that one of my many rants would help someone out so much to be honest. I thought you were going to blow it off."

"Never. I love you to much for you to waste your breath on a long rant for nothing when you could have been lip locking with me instead."

"Would have wasted my bre- wait, what? Matt you pervert." She said, lightly slapping the back of his head.

"Only speaking the truth."

"I know, and that's why I love you." She said, bringing his head down before kissing him gently.

"I love you too (y/n)." He replied into the kiss before pulling away.

"By the way, I have something for you. Stand up really quick." He said fidgeting a little.

"Alright. Now what?"

"Close your eyes and just listen."

And so she did. Her eyes closed tight as she listened for what he was going to do or say.

She felt her hands being held onto by Matthews.

"With this hand, I will lift your sorrows. Your cup will never empty, for I will be your wine. With this candle I will light your way through the darkness, With this ring, I ask you to be mine."

(y/n) gasped, opening her eyes to see him on one knee holding out a ring.

"Matt.. you recited The Corpse Bride?"

"Mhm. I remembered you liked the movie, so I thought why not?" He said, blushing a dark red.

"Soo.. what do you say (y/n)? will you marry me?"

Smiling, tears of joy running down her face she replied,

"Yes Matt. I will."
