i stumble around the huge school trying to find first period.  
i swiftly turn around causing me to collide into a puppy eyed brunette.
"i'm sorry", i quickly say
"it's okay", she reassures
"i'm mackenzie, but people call me Kenzie for short" she says.
"i'm Emily, i'm new to RiverSide Maple." i respond.  
"well what do u have for first period?" she asked
"science" i say while sighing 
"really, same" she tells me with a sweet smile spread around her face. 
i smile back.
"well come on, we don't want to be late on the first day." she says.
                          •••
                          "don't you um i don't know think emily is too...formal, imma call you emi." she says.
i let out a giggle, "okay that fine, only if u let me call you mack..?"
"fine,deal" she says while giving me a wink.
                          •••
                          "and here we are, quick let's find some good seats" kenzie says.
while shuffling around the room, a dirty blonde catches my eye, we make eye contact, causing me to quickly look away.
this catches mack's attention.
 "johnny orlando", she whispers. 
 looking me in the eye she says "don't fall for him em, he's just going to break your heart."
 quickly glancing back at him, i reassure her, 
"i wasn't planning to", giving her a smile.
 "ok great, well come on," she's says while grabbing my empty hand and pulling me down into a seat. 
 i sigh. 
                           this is going to be a long year.
