Silent and PTSD

It's been a week since the incident with Ruby and Emerald. They both have been doing well but they aren't back to their regular selfs yet. Today we start previews for Les Mis and so far everything has been going well.

"Emerald," I smiled at her, "Are you ready to be a mini me for the first show today?"

Emerald nodded as she continued to do her makeup. That's odd. She's been fine talking all up until now.

"Hey twin," Ruby smiled at her, "You ready to play with us yet?"

Emerald nodded and I looked at Ruby. I raised an eyebrow and Ruby shrugged. That's very odd. I finished doing my makeup and sighed. There was a knock at my dressing room door and Josh walked in.

"Hey babe, are you ready for this?" Josh smiled as he pulled me into a kiss.

I kissed him back, "Something seems off with Emerald."

"What do you mean?" Josh asked, confused.

"When I asked Emerald a question, she only nodded. When Ruby asked her if she was ready to play a game she only nodded. That's not like her," I explained.

Josh's P.O.V

"How about I go check up on her and ask Ana or if Ana's not in the room I could ask Maddison about it?" I asked Blue.

"Why not, she might start talking to you," Blue shrugged.

I kissed Blue's forehead and walked out of her room. I walked into the kids dressing room to see Maddison playing a game with the kids. Everyone was talking loud except for Emerald. I motioned for Maddison to come out into the hall to talk to me. She stood up and climbed out of the room since the kids were blocking the doorway. Once we were in the hall I pulled her down the hall, away from the door.

"Hey, is Emerald okay?" Maddison the caretaker asked me, "She didn't speak at all during our schooling lesson earlier and now she still isn't talking to anyone, not even Ruby. All she has done is nod and shake her head but that's about it."

"Have you talked to Ana about it?" I asked her.

"Yeah and she said with the trauma that has happened to her in the past week, it could possibly be post traumatic stress disorder," Maddison explained.

"That would explain a lot except for the fact she was talking everyday this past week," I groaned.

"The abductor put duct tape over her mouth to silence her and I have a feeling the trauma is making her feel silenced," Maddison added, "I did however ask if she still wanted to perform tonight and she nodded her head in agreement. I then asked her if she would sing and she again nodded. So don't worry about that. I just think she will need some time to get over this."

"So what do we do until then?" I asked.

"Try and encourage her to talk but don't make her feel forced. She will talk when she's ready," Maddison smiled softly at me.

"Why don't you talk to her and try and see if she will talk to you," Maddison suggested.

"Okay, but first let me go tell this to Blue," I smiled softly as I walked off to Blue's dressing room.

I knocked on the door and peaked my head in to see Blue and Jude talking about some anime. Where is Cameron and why is he not in this conversation?

"Hey b," I smiled at Blue, "Maddison just told me that Emerald could possibly be suffering from PTSD. She also just told me to just give her some time and that we should try to encourage her the best that we can."

"Okay. Thank you again Josh," Blue smiled at me as she stood up and walked over.

"Of course," I smiled back before giving her a quick peck on the lips.

"Now if excuse me, Jude and I were having a heated discussion about which is better, Black Butler or Mob Psycho 100," Blue smiled as she closed the door in my face.

"As long as you two aren't making out," I yelled.

"We aren't dude, trust me! This bitch just thinks Black Butler is better than Mob Psycho 100, and I can't stand it!" Jude laughed on the other side of the door.

I laughed softly to myself and walked back to the kids room. I opened the door and Emerald and I made eye contact. I motioned for her to follow me and she stood up. I waited for her outside of the room for her. I grabbed her waist and picked her up. I walked up the stairs to the stage and walked on stage. I walked to the edge of the stage and sat down and Emerald.

"Hey princess," I smiled as I picked her up and set her on my lap, "Look at all those seats. In one hour those seats will be filled with people. Isn't that wonderful? I honestly think one of the most soothing things is an empty theatre. Nobody in it, but you, the calm before a storm."

Emerald tilted her up and fluttered her eyes at me. I pushed her hair out of her face and wrapped my arms around her.

"I don't know what's going through that little head of yours right now, but probably a thousand thoughts. I wish I knew. But I want you to know you are always safe with me. All those seats will be filled tonight, and not a single one of those people will be able to hurt you, not with me around," I continued, "What happened last week was not your fault. It was my fault. Somebody is trying to get to me and Blue and they know how much we care about you and Ruby, so they went through you to get to us. But I promise that will never happen again. This world is big and scary and I know it's hard. But I am here to protect you from it. You don't have to talk. You will when you are ready. I just want you to know how much I love you and how much you mean to Blue and that we would never let anyone hurt you. You will always be my little princess."

I kissed the top of her head and looked out at the seats, "We gotta go get ready."

I stood her up and then stood myself up also. She turned around and grabbed me in a hug, her head on my stomach and her arms wrapped around me. Sometimes an action can say a thousand words.

"I love you too, princess."
