(Y/n) is James Potter's little sister. Although they only have a one-year age gap – James being in his seventh year and (y/n) in his sixth – James is very protective of (y/n). Though she wished he would be less demanding of her now that her brother has a girlfriend (finally), he isn't. He's still shoo-ing boys off from approaching and trying to date her. He's still his overbearing and bossy self.
"I can't believe you!"
"He's a huge asshat, (y/n). He does not deserve to date my sister," James tries to reason out, not really regretful of what he did.
"Ugh!! Look, I can handle myself! I'm 16!! Just let me be," (y/n) sighs.
"No can do, baby sis! Boys who will try to be with you would have to go through me."
"Can't you just snog with Lily, you know, mind your own thing or something?" she tries.
"Great idea! I'll see you at dinner." With that, James runs off from Ravenclaw tower to his own to be with his girlfriend.
That's exactly what (y/n) wants – a boyfriend who's very dedicated and loving and who'll be there always. But how can she have that when his brother is so against it? Don't get (y/n) wrong, she values her studies more than anyone but as she's graduating soon, she just wants to experience what high school has to offer. She sees everyone everyday being with someone they like and it just makes her envious.
And it's not like her brother would be rooting for her and her crush now, would he? Especially since the boy who caught her interest is his closest best friend. Plus, it would probably take the strongest love potion for Sirius Black to like her back. He has so many options and girls to choose from that she would probably be last on the list. He surely does not want to risk his friendship with James for her.
Ugh, what is she thinking?
With a sigh, she turns and heads towards her common room.

Later that night, (y/n) isn't able to take her dinner as she fell asleep when she went back to the girls' dormitories in the afternoon. When she woke up, she decided to just go to the library to finish her homework for Professor Slughorn.
On the way there, someone taps her shoulder. Turning around, she is surprised to see Sirius Black standing there with a worried look.
"Hey Sirius, what's up? What does James want now?" (y/n) asks.
"Well, he was worried because you weren't at the Great Hall during dinner so –"
" – he asked you to ask me to eat at the kitchen?"
Sirius stutters, "Uh yeah, yeah. Exactly. Let's go!"
(Y/n) sighs but turns to follow him nonetheless. She wonders why James, for once, isn't the one who came to her to make her eat. Anyway, this is better. It's not that she doesn't want to hang out with her brother. This is the closest she's going to get for a 'romantic' relationship. At least for her.
When they reached the kitchen, Sirius turns to the elves and asks for the excess of tonight's dinner politely.
"So.... Why weren't you?" Sirius asks, scratching the back of his head.
"Why wasn't I what?"
"At dinner?"
Oh.
"I – I was sleeping and I didn't notice that it was time to eat," (y/n) explains, shyly.
Right on time, when the two seem to have nothing to talk about, two house elves approach them and urge them to move on to the table where a feast for five people sits on the table.
